The people i am close with, who are my friends and who know me well, know that i am an utter mess when it comes to relationships. I mean seriously. i can handle just about anything life throws at me, except men. Everything in my world centers around what the latest asshole man in my life is doing/has done. For the most part, i had a real nice time with vix. drove to her house tuesday night after work. she made a really nice dinner, then we went to the store to pick up the ingredients for her specialty drink, ImaFruit. yummy, that. She, her boyfriend and i had just started sipping the drinks and playing trivial pursuit, when my cell rang. it was R., telling me that his father was in the hospital dying. I can't even begin to describe where this puts my head and heart. And then abruptly said i had to go.

I do this too much. But i also don't do it enough. This is always such a no-win balancing act for me. One of the bigger struggles in my life has been dealing with the fact that i was not socialized as a kid. Most often they just pushed people away. And i see these patterns in me now. friendships are just transactions (and i do bitch about the price), and when people get too close, i cut them off. Post a new comment.
