A is for Adventures. My Experiences Teaching English in Thailand. Newer posts →. C is for Chop. April 26, 2011. Chop means ‘like’ in Thai. It’s a pretty handy and often necessary word. (Especially when used properly.) ‘Chan chop blaah kha’ means ‘I like fish’. ‘Mai chop’ means ‘I don’t like’, but you know me, I prefer to focus on the positives. On the sidebar, so check it out! She has some photos on there, too. That all settled when a group of us decided to go out for Thai massages! Sunday night market a...

A is for Adventures. My Experiences Teaching English in Thailand. D is for Dentist. F is for Farang →. E is for Elephant. May 4, 2011. Yeah I know…E is. For Elephant, and usually it’s quite trite and boring, but this. Time it has a meaning! Now that I went to the dentist and got the letter D out of the way, I can finally write about my amazing weekend with elephants (and tigers)! First things first, though. Friday after class, a small group of us went to Tiger Kingdom. It was a little more sad than I...

Adventures In Thailand: August 2011
http://chelsea-in-thailand.blogspot.com/2011_08_01_archive.html
Thursday, August 4, 2011. Last Friday we had a work party to celebrate Luke and Anna's birthdays. Complete with kareoke, thai food, and presents! A successful party. This past weekend our friend Brie came to visit Lopburi. Ashley and I used it as an excuse to actually see some of the tourist sights in town! Well, first we went for massages of course! And Brie was able to get a close up experience with one of Lopburi's many monkeys. This guy was right outside the door to the massage shop.

Adventures In Thailand: Back to blogging!
http://chelsea-in-thailand.blogspot.com/2012/01/back-to-blogging.html
Thursday, January 19, 2012. Alright, so I have been very, very lazy about blogging for the last.4 months! But I am going to try and go out as strong as I went in, so this is the catch-up post. October: I spent three weeks traveling around the islands in the South of Thailand. I went to Koh Tao, Koh Phangan, Koh Samui, Koh PhiPhi, Koh Lanta, and Riley Beach. It was a great vacation and though I was getting sick of living out of my backpack by the end of it, I'm so glad that I did it! January: This month I...

Adventures In Thailand: July 2011
http://chelsea-in-thailand.blogspot.com/2011_07_01_archive.html
Tuesday, July 19, 2011. It's been a while since my last post, but I've been pretty busy! We were taken to an amazing seafood restaurant and feasted on some small lobster-type things, a fried fish, a crab salad, mussels, squid, tom yam shrimp, and of course sticky rice. It was delicious! Melinda's students and our hostesses for the day! The river is lined with food stalls and vendors and then. There are boats in the river which sell food as well. We met up with some other friends from our training course ...

Adventures In Thailand: Still in Thailand!
http://chelsea-in-thailand.blogspot.com/2011/09/still-in-thailand.html
Wednesday, September 14, 2011. Sorry it has been so long since my last post! Here are some of the pictures I did get while in Kanchanaburi. One of the military cemetaries in Kanchanaburi. Tier 2 of Erawan Waterfalls. Tier 4: used as a waterslide, which I definitely went down. Those are the major things that have happened in the last month. The theme of September is saving money for October! We'll see if we can fit it all in or if we just find paradise on the first island and decide to stay!

Wednesday, May 25, 2011. Well, I'm officially a teacher now and I'm exhausted! We get to school at 7:45 everyday and stand outside for the flag ceremony, which lasts about 30 minutes. Some mornings I have a class at 8:30 and some mornings I can relax a bit. My homeroom is grade 5, so that's where my desk is (and where I'm currently writing this post from! Mondays and Tuesdays I only have 2 classes, but Wednesdays and Fridays I have 4! How was a 3 week TEFL course going to prepare me for this? I could get...

Adventures In Thailand: Nearing the End
http://chelsea-in-thailand.blogspot.com/2012/02/nearing-end.html
Thursday, February 9, 2012. Our final exams have been scheduled for March 1st and 2nd, so only 2 and half more weeks of teaching! It really has gone by quickly. I'm excited for some traveling before I go home. My friends Brie and Mel are coming to visit this weekend, so we're going to try and make a tentative schedule for March and April. Also, Brie bought the same ticket back to NYC as me so I'll have some company for the flight! Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). View my complete profile.

Tales of a little boy-chasing, baby-snuggling, picture-taking mother of twin boys and a baby. Ft Myers for Spring Break. Next stop was the beach - where we spent the majority of our time during this vacation. My little surf dudes - check out the muscles on these guys! The boys LOVED boogie boarding in the waves. The surf was calm enough that they could pretty much do it on their own. And, "Do real. Surfers wrap the string around their arm like this? Surfer. SO funny! First of all, some belly pics. That's...

A is for Adult. Chapter 3: American in Dar. Sunday, May 20, 2012. Perro Vida: The Dogs of Surf Town*. It’s an easy day at Tortilla Flats. The expats speak in a charming Orange County drawl while sipping Imperials. The tourists, happily day-drunk, munch on mountains of nachos. The surfers bob up and down in a consistent surf. The locals are policemen on bicycles, shirtless shop keepers, and five year olds tending their surf boards. Pura vida. Free agents scavenge the garbage cans, while a lab hangs back w...

A is For Adventure. On October 16, 2012. Since being back, I’ve been lucky enough to see Meghan and Leslie in Wildwood for the world’s largest Ultimate beach tournament. Ismini finally came back to the US, and invited me to come visit her for her church’s Greek festival. Not one to turn down an invitation to pretend I speak Greek again, I was soon stuffing myself with tiropita. Cathartic actually comes from the Greek καθαίρω! Let the world change you, and you can change the world. On August 23, 2012.

A is for Adventures | My Experiences Teaching English in Thailand
A is for Adventures. My Experiences Teaching English in Thailand. J is for “J”. September 4, 2011. One of the things I love most about Thailand is the amazing food. It’s not only downright delicious, but it’s really inexpensive and so readily available. It’s easier, cheaper and quite frankly more palatable to go to a market or street vendor and buy freshly prepared food than it is to make something of my own. And so I arrive at the letter J. 2 Gaeng Khiao Wan (sai Tao-whooo). Green curry (with Tofu) has ...
