As a postpartum doula, birth doula, certified lactation educator and breastfeeding support specialist, I can offer you a wide range of services and support, tailored to your individual and family needs. These include:. Two prenatal visits to assess your needs and desires for birth, define and understand our expectations of one another, and provide you with useful tools for labour and birth. One private breastfeeding class, if desired. Postpartum Support (arranged before baby is born).

How can a birth doula make a difference to you and your family? Helps a mother and her partner become informed about various birth choices. Provides non-judgmental emotional support. Uses comfort measures - breathing, relaxation, movement, positioning - to assist a mother during labour. Continuously reassures and comforts the mother. Helps facilitate communication between the mother, her partner and care providers. Looks after the partner as well, so that he/she can optimally support the labouring mother.

What can postpartum support look like for your family? Offers education, companionship and nonjudgmental support during the postpartum fourth trimester. Assists with newborn care, family adjustment, meal preparation and light household tidying. Offers evidence-based information on infant feeding, emotional and physical recovery from birth, infant soothing and coping skills for new parents and makes appropriate referrals when necessary. AJ has the answers and we feel truly blessed to have her support.

I have come to this profession after 25 years as a military wife, living all over the world, so I understand how important support is to a family.
