Write like no-one's watching. Monday, 23 August 2010. AlphaThoughts - Bless me muse, for I have sinned. It has been three weeks since my last blog post. Ouch Worse than that, it has also been three weeks since I wrote anything on my novel. My aim to write 5,000 words a week has been shamefully ignored. I have excuses, of course:. 2) I started a new exercise regime at the same time as work went nuts. Eminently sensible, I'm sure you'll agree. Have you been making excuses lately? Don't let the goblins win!

Alphabet Soup: September 2010
http://alphabetsoupuk.blogspot.com/2010_09_01_archive.html
Write like no-one's watching. Wednesday, 29 September 2010. AlphaReview: Books from afar. The last month has been not a little crazy for me at work, and my writing has suffered somewhat. I will be turning a new leaf over in October and getting back to it in earnest. In the meantime though, I have been lucky enough to receive three books from afar – they have crossed the pond to find me from the. The first is Cinders. A novella by Michelle Davidson Argyle. The second book to land on my mat was Genre Wars.

Alphabet Soup: AlphaThoughts: I'm back, and here's why it will stick
http://alphabetsoupuk.blogspot.com/2013/07/alphathoughts-im-back-and-heres-why-it.html
Write like no-one's watching. Wednesday, 10 July 2013. AlphaThoughts: I'm back, and here's why it will stick. Well, my 'new leaf' two years ago rather withered and died on its stem. So here I am, back with a whole new plant. I could say that the reason I haven't blogged for two years is that life got in the way - wedding planning, wedding, honeymoon, moving house, getting pregnant etc. But who has a life that doesn't get in the way - and come to that, who wants one? So why am I back now? The mean editor ...

Alphabet Soup: July 2010
http://alphabetsoupuk.blogspot.com/2010_07_01_archive.html
Write like no-one's watching. Saturday, 31 July 2010. AlphaPoem of the Week - Sonnet 116. Before I become all-consumed by my first novel project. Starting tomorrow, I thought I'd post this week's poem, Sonnet 116 by William Shakespeare. This is another favourite of mine (notice the recurring love theme. I adore the way that the first line and a half is almost overly wordy and serious - it just emphasises the simplicity of the statements that follow. For Shakespeare, true love never. Poem of the week.

Alphabet Soup: AlphaPoem of the Week - Toads
http://alphabetsoupuk.blogspot.com/2010/08/alphapoem-of-week-toads.html
Write like no-one's watching. Monday, 9 August 2010. AlphaPoem of the Week - Toads. My poem of this week is for all writers out there doing a day job and writing on the side. And for anyone who would rather not work at all! Don't get me wrong, I actually quite like my job. I've had a few and it's the best one yet - some great people, changing faces, and I feel like I'm making a difference to some people. I hope you enjoy it. Why should I let the toad. Squat on my life? Can't I use my wit as a pitchfork.

Or whether what you're already doing is really what you're meant. Alphabet Soup: June 2011
http://alphabetsoupuk.blogspot.com/2011_06_01_archive.html
Write like no-one's watching. Monday, 27 June 2011. Shameful. Utterly shameful. I have left my blog to gather cobwebs for nine months. Call myself a writer and can't write a few hundred words every couple of weeks - shocking behaviour. New leaf starts today, with a modest goal of an absolute minimum of a post a week. Preferably witty and intelligent, but won't be allowing the pesky internal editor to get too hung up on that. So what have I been doing? I am gearing up to turn 30 later this year, and have ...

Alphabet Soup: AlphaBook Project - my first novel
http://alphabetsoupuk.blogspot.com/2010/06/alphabook-project-my-first-novel.html
Write like no-one's watching. Sunday, 20 June 2010. AlphaBook Project - my first novel. Known here as the Alpha. Book) has been percolating for over three years. During 2009, I managed a concerted period of character work, plotting, developing themes, and generally building the fictional world. Then I hit a wall, and. Never actually started writing the damn thing. One thing I do know is this:. That if I never get my story down on paper, it will always gnaw. Write a minimum of. 000 words a week. Blog how ...
