Telavoba | A Journalist In Georgia

https://ajournalistingeorgia.wordpress.com/2013/11/10/telavoba

A Journalist In Georgia. The country, not the state). First, the sad news: I did not get to go to Davit Gareja. I felt perfectly fine Friday night and then woke up in the middle of the night Saturday with stomach pain. I ignored it, figuring it would go away by morning, but it was only worse when I woke up. Ugh. I was/am incredibly bummed! Maybe I’ll treat my neighbor, Eka, for being so helpful and welcoming to me. My host family has been working hard lately so they definitely needed a break for some fun.

A Journalist In Georgia. The country, not the state). Stalin and Supra in Gori. This most recent weekend was one of the best weekends I’ve had in Georgia! Friday marked the end of another week and I was exhausted, even though it was only a four day week because of the Tskaltubo excursion the previous weekend. I was planning on relaxing and going to bed early, but some friends invited me out with them. Despite the freezing cold weather here (I forgot what 40 degrees feels like! I think it might have had t...

F.A.Q. | A Journalist In Georgia

https://ajournalistingeorgia.wordpress.com/2013/11/27/f-a-q

A Journalist In Georgia. The country, not the state). I’ve had quite a few of my readers ask me some of the same questions, so I thought I would put together this little list of Q and A’s for your curiosity’s pleasure🙂. 1 Is the water safe to drink? 2 What is teaching actually like for you? What is your usual place in the classroom? Ah, yes. My place in the classroom. Here, a woman’s work may be in the kitchen and with the kids, but an American teacher’s place is beside his/her co-te...I assist. I m...

The End of My Journey | A Journalist In Georgia

https://ajournalistingeorgia.wordpress.com/2013/12/17/the-end-of-my-journey

A Journalist In Georgia. The country, not the state). The End of My Journey. It’s Monday and I’m officially back in the states as of last Friday at midnight (which would be noon Georgia time). I hadn’t updated since Davit Gareji because our Internet went out and then when my host mom finally paid the bill, it still wasn’t working. I felt sure I would end up leaving the country in a strait jacket. But, alas, I survived. #firstworldproblems. I had all the students stand up and do the moves and they absolut...

A Journal in Raw

A Journal in Raw. Tuesday, September 7, 2010. Still fat after all these months! Think of a bunch of bananas. If we were all raw, we’d each have to consume how many bananas to feel full? The convenience of quick foods is what keeps us going back. Throwing something in the microwave for a few minutes or buying the Publix chicken dinner for $10 is much easier than preparing an assortment of vegetables or is it? Who makes me eat it? No, I do it because I choose to. And the sad thing about it is there is no r...

A Journalistic Experience

Sunday, January 30, 2011. Ok Ok I know I havent updated in a couple weeks, but I have been busy, so no hating! This past week has gone pretty fantastically! School is rolling along nicely. Letters from Nairobi

December 26, 2012. Along the road near Kisumu. Furniture builders on Ngong Road. No problem), the rows upon rows of plastic-bagged plants for sale (geraniums, royal palms, birds of paradise), toward Village Market, a shopping mall that would be at home in Southern California. Tea growing at a plantation outside Ruaka. Half an hour on, turn right through another stick-and-tarp market and follow the red dirt and potholes. Through the hedges, among the mamas brilliant in their church-going clothes, past...

THE SEARCH

I've been inspired to get back to blogging. Or just communication, in general. I've been pretty bad about keeping in touch with people through Facebook. Etc For a while the most it's been is a sporadic status update or an occasional Google chat conversation. Wowmy last post was July! Okay, I guess the key to successfully remaining committed to something like this is to keep it small, manageable. So today was my friend Helen's 49 th. I'm glad today is Friday. It's time to rest and time to play! Sort Tomor...

November 12, 2008. When the director of Charleston Lacrosse called me to ask if I wanted to help out with a clinic I was more then happy to oblige. The deep south is not a haven for the old indian tradition, but look many other areas of the country it has become a growing trend. So I started a routine that has helped me lose three percent body fat and gain a lot of muscle. I start me week of mainly with building muscle and end with aerobic activity… as such.
