Tuesday, May 26, 2015. Some of my earliest memories involve Uncle Eli and Aunt Sadie. They loved children, but were unable to have any of their own so when Dad and Mom needed to go somewhere without us children we would often get to stay at their house. On Saturday I was shocked to receive the news that Sadie had passed away. And I will give you his address. Wednesday, January 21, 2015. 1 American Idol is back for a 14th season. Are you watching? Have you ever watched? If you were to audition for the show (or were made. To audition), what song would you sing? I am not watching American Idol. Have never watched it. I would never willingly audition, but if made to I would probably panic and squeak out a jumble of words from a variety of songs, because I'm pretty sure I couldn't remember the words to any particular song at that moment. Thursday, April 30, 2015. Early to bed, early to rise seemed to be the motto among the Amish. Nine o'clock was considered to be late. Even with getting plenty of sleep there was something about the long church services that seemed to put people to sleep. Usually when the second minister started preaching the boys would settle in to get as comfortable as possible to sleep. Married men might try to stay awake, but many of them dozed off. Friday, May 15, 2015. My collection of pretty handkerchiefs grew rapidly and decidedly prettier as I got older. One of the traditions in the Amish churches while was growing up was when ever someone came to visit the girls always got to choose a pretty handkerchief as a little memento to take home. Monday, March 30, 2015. How and why there seem to always be a sock or two that remains unmatched when ever we do the laundry has always been a mystery to me. The mystery continues to get more mystifying to me.
