As this blog is a sort of electronic journal, and I haven't spent much time writing about or recording our home improvement projects lately, I thought I'd catch myself up and make an official list. I'm even going to separate them into categories! Cleaning so fast you can't see his hand. Things We Have Completed. Redid the nursery, which included:. Tore out old walls. Put in new windows. Added light in closet. Added new trim and baseboard. Replaced 4 basement windows. Refinished my work desk. Replace wind...

Deep life questions | gokie notes
http://gokienotes.blogspot.com/2015/07/deep-life-questions.html
I have lots of questions sometimes, so I figured I'd smash them all into one big blog post. Why not, right? Why are rugs so expensive? Some ones I've been crushing:. Joss and Main, $122. Urban Outfitters, $200. Rugs USA, $134. What makes babies think that you saying "ouch" when they scratch/poke/punch/kick you is just so. darn. hilarious? Why does knitting take so darn long? Or is that just me? I swear, I've been working on this forever. Why is bluegrass so good? Yes I know all three of those share like ...

5 ways to have a social life {when you have little kids}. David and I are not naturally social butterflies. I'm a true introvert, and he's an ambivert, which means most of the time we're totally cool with staying at home, turning on Netflix or working on a house project, and just leaving the house when it's absolutely necessary. But every once in awhile, we venture outside of. It's very awesome, and I know that not everyone is in the same situation. Other places to try and get free babysitting: high ...

Birthdays, fun, busyness, etc. Wow, killer post title, huh? This past weekend/week/really, month, has totally flown by - in a mass of birthday fun, party prep, fun baby things, and so much more. How bout a mostly-pictorial recap? We celebrated Kate's first birthday with a big shindig on Sunday. Aren't our decorations super cute? David found our "it's a girl" sign in the garage and we couldn't resist putting it back up for the party. Don't worry, this is one of the TWO, and only two, projects I plan to do...

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone! Have a blessed day -. Things I'm thankful for [2014]. I'm really bad at being thankful. Does anyone else realize this once Thanksgiving rolls around each year? I think about the meaning of the holiday, and then can count on one hand how many times I've stopped to be grateful for the blessings in my life since the previous year's Thanksgiving. It's sad. But it's better than never being grateful whatsoever, right? So here's a list of things I'm thankful for this year. Also a v...

I've probably mentioned it on the blog before, but David and I have this glorious chore arrangement in our marriage. It's really simple, and cuts down on a lot of vocal procrastination, even if it doesn't cut down on the actual. David does the dishes, and I do the laundry. I hadn't done my share of laundry in awhile, so this weekend I did 7 or 8 loads in a row. I caught myself waiting for a load to finish downstairs, and snapped this quick picture of our clothes all hanging up in a line. In our house, ha...

They are really no fun. They are even less fun when your husband/life partner/co-babysitter/nighttime waking dealer-with is going to be out of town for the next 48 hours, and you're looking at a loooong stretch of teething and crying all by your lonesome. I mean, lonesome minus the almost-one-year-old. Anywho, onto more pleasant pastures? Also also, if you want to print your Instagram photos, the Shutterfly mobile app is having a great deal - use the code 4X4PRINTS to get 25 free 4x4" prints! I'm rereadi...

7QT #21: hummus, books, and football season. Friday seemed like it would never come this week. Praise the LORD it's finally here! For another week of the quickest of takes! I'll give it a go. Probably should live a little while I get the chance, right? WRONG Wrong wrong wrong. Never again will I buy that crap. Not even CLOSE to as good as Sabra. Evil, evil hummus. It just tasted like.grossness. Don't stray from your favorites. It is never worth it. Kate and I seem to have fallen into a pretty good rhythm...

June Garden Tour {a link-up}. So, I've always been an admirer of Cari's. Ability to a) have beautiful gardens, b) name bodies of water after Doctor Who characters, and c) find ways to blog about gardening that doesn't bore me to tears but inspires me to be more creative with outdoor spaces. I'm not much a gardener, but we've done a lot of landscaping to our house this year - so I thought, why not join in? Let's get started, shall we? Now if we'd just get around to finishing the basement windows. Another ...

1 Lots of fall evening walks, which of course include an adorably bundled-up baby and feet pictures. 2 Once Upon a Time, which has very recently (as of last night at like 10 pm) become my new obsession. I always thought it sounded ridiculous. And then I started watching it and I'm down for the count and apologizing for every time I dissed it in my head. (And yes, it's on Netflix.). 3 Adorable Husker game watching with this little cutie in her somewhat boyish outfit. Linking up with Jenna. Hmm, I would sa...
