wide eyed rubies | “Our laughter kept the feathers in the air. I thought about birds. Could they fly if there wasn’t someone, somewhere, laughing?”

Our laughter kept the feathers in the air. I thought about birds. Could they fly if there wasn’t someone, somewhere, laughing? March 29, 2011. I’m a little short on time today, so instead of describing my process for my studio self-portrait drawing, I thought I’d just show it to you. First, this is the photograph I’m working from. Here’s my initial vine toned Reeves BFK paper cut down to size to match my grid (22 x 27). Beginning erasure outlines and form. Studio critique tomorrow morning. March 26, 2011.

Seated Pose FINISHED!!! | wide eyed rubies

https://ajsart.wordpress.com/2011/03/13/seated-pose-finished

Our laughter kept the feathers in the air. I thought about birds. Could they fly if there wasn’t someone, somewhere, laughing? March 13, 2011. Check it out (click to enlarge)…. It took about three days and lots of frustration (especially while working on the hands), but she’s done…. I don’t hate it, but it’s probably not going in the portfolio of my favorites. Now off to take some digital self portrait images and manipulate them in photoshop for some drawing studies. Leave a Reply Cancel reply.

Sketches of Emily | wide eyed rubies

Our laughter kept the feathers in the air. I thought about birds. Could they fly if there wasn’t someone, somewhere, laughing? March 1, 2011. Our model is back so it’s back to the figures. I’m not a big fan of this week’s drawings, but c’est la vie. I’m growing a little tired of looking at the same thing for 2 hours in the morning, 3 days a week. Good thing out camera self portrait drawing is coming up! More details to come. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. Enter your comment here. Address never made public).

Updated Emily Reclined Pose #2 | wide eyed rubies

https://ajsart.wordpress.com/2011/03/26/completed-emily-reclined-pose-2

Our laughter kept the feathers in the air. I thought about birds. Could they fly if there wasn’t someone, somewhere, laughing? Updated Emily Reclined Pose #2. March 26, 2011. Pretty much finished Emily’s reclined pose drawing today. I used heavier charcoal versus only vine to make the shadowing a little more dramatic than I usually do, simply because the pose itself was a bit dramatic. The drawing is on 22 x 30 Reeves BFK paper which is growing on me despite my love for Strathmore. Enter your comment here.

Our laughter kept the feathers in the air. I thought about birds. Could they fly if there wasn’t someone, somewhere, laughing? February 27, 2011. I know I’ve been slacking with the updates lately. My life has been insanely busy, but alas, I am ready to share what I’ve been working on! I also decided to try to use a different technique for building up mass in figures. Here’s how my squiggle mass sketches turned out with charcoal on newsprint. Assignment #3: Great Master Drawing = COMPLETE! Here’s ho...

valentine in progress | casey waldeck

https://wonderingways.wordpress.com/2010/10/13/valentine-in-progress

I am i am i am – a valentine to myself →. This is the second heart i’ve started to stitch for this project. I was initially (and may end up) cross stitching a very similar but smaller and solid image before this, however I like the way that the embroidery looks. I obviously still have a lot of work to do. I spent a lot of time looking through old anatomy textbooks and my original plan was to place this stitched heart into a rib cage, but i’m now working on placing the heart into a sealed mason jar.

Anatomy, texture, and self-love? Be gentle with yourself. You are a child of the universe, no less than the trees and the stars →. Taking the valentines a step further. For these valentine’s I’m working with lots of different textures, man-made and natural. Like the last series, these valentine’s will be addressed to myself. A study of attempted self-love, if you will. Plenty more to come! This entry was posted in Uncategorized. Anatomy, texture, and self-love? Leave a Reply Cancel reply.

Newer posts →. Let’s make GIANT valentines! Final project for art 160 (1/4). To play off of Marian Bantjes’s remastered valentines, we will be creating large valentines – atleast 36 in in width. I’m excited to get started and to work with texture and varying media. Formal my art 160 final project I did a series of inkwash and pastel drawings of the heart, lungs, stomach and brain. On each piece I stitched directions or paths of meaning (ex., heart beat in the picture above). For. Continue reading →.
