To solve the two main tasks of collecting and depositing balls, our team iterated through a variety of options. After prototyping, testing, and discussing different strategies, we decided on a 2-stage ball collection strategy and a passive deposit mechanism. Servos were used to actuate the ball collection armature and control the ball release gate. The ball uptake is controlled by a single dc motor, hooked up to an L293b h-bridge chip. The motor direction is constant so only a single E128 output is needed. The motor boards were supplied to us at the beginning of the quarter. It features the LMD18200, a 3A H-Bridge designed for motion control applications. This driver can operate at supply voltages up to 55V. The fans were controlled using N-channel MOSFETs.

Our team spent a significant amount of time at the beginning of the project planning out our software hierarchy. As the project progressed, we developed and refined individual modules as needed, and made a final push towards integration once we had all the individual components working.
