Sunday, May 10, 2015. Reviving Gentoo VMware support. Sadly over the last months the support for VMware Workstation and friends in Gentoo dropped a lot. Why? Well, I was the only developer left who cared, and it's definitely not at the top of my Gentoo priorities list. To be honest that has not really changed. However. let's try to harness the power of the community now. I've pushed a mirror of the Gentoo vmware overlay to Github, see. Monday, May 4, 2015. A Dirnaichner, M. Grifoni. And Ch. Strunk. Monday, May 4, 2015. PRB accepted: Transport across a carbon nanotube quantum dot contacted with ferromagnetic leads: experiment and non-perturbative modeling. It's time to announce yet another nice result. Our manuscript "Transport across a carbon nanotube quantum dot contacted with ferromagnetic leads: experiment and non-perturbative modeling" has been accepted as a regular article by Physical Review B. Saturday, January 31, 2015. Some time ago, Matteo Pescarin created the great " Gentoo Abducted" design. Here are, after some minor doodling for the fun of it, several A0 posters based on that design, pointing out the excellent features of Gentoo. Released under CC BY-SA 2.5. As the original. Enjoy! Excellent news- our manuscript " Sub-gap spectroscopy of thermally excited quasiparticles in a Nb contacted carbon nanotube quantum dot. Was just accepted for publication by Physical Review B. As a Rapid Communication. Confirms our results very well, especially also the temperature dependence of the features visible in the measurements. A K Hüttel.

Saturday, November 15, 2014. RDepending on Perl itself. Writing correct dependency specifications is an art in itself. So, here's a small guide for Gentoo developers how to specify runtime dependencies on dev-lang/perl. First, the general rule. Check the following two things: 1) is your package linking anywhere to libperl.so, 2) is your package installing any Perl modules into Perl's vendor directory. Eg, /usr/lib64/perl5/vendor perl/5.20.1/)? 1) or 2) true. 1) false, 2) false. No need to do anything.
