Saturday, January 16, 2010. Alright, I am once again answering the decades-old question: Who/ What is akiko? The million dollar answer: I am akiko. I called her Hiroshi Yoshi Yoko for awhile, but it just wasn't as catchy as Akiko. I started signing all my clay pieces and other artwork as akiko and it became my pen name when I wrote as well. When I lived in Manhattan I went by Akiko (it was shortened to 'kiko quite a bit. As if Akiko isn't short enough! So there you have it. I've blown my own cover.

Saturday, August 1, 2015. What size are your classes? As small as 1 and up to 13, but usually about 4 kids. What ages do you teach? Children of all ages can and should be exposed to art. I have taught children as young as 2 years old. My "Art for Littles" class is usually ages 3-5. I also teach teens. Do you teach adults? Can I stay for my child's class? Do you offer a sibling discount? Usually, yes. Details will be in the post for the class. Does the cost of the class include supplies? Subscribe to: Pos...

This Is How We Ritchies Roll: August 2012
http://markandestelle.blogspot.com/2012_08_01_archive.html
Thursday, August 16, 2012. Noah, my 7 year old drama prince, has a flair for the dramatic. Yesterday he came moaning and crawling into my office, clutching his beloved Angry Bird, who evidently made the long and arduous journey from the living room with him. Noah claimed that he couldn't walk because of weakness caused by hunger, hence the crawling. And he desperately needed Doritos Taco Chips to survive. Links to this post. Tuesday, August 14, 2012. For starters, we couldn't have a proper tea party with...

Sunday, June 17, 2012. Pinterest Fathers Day Pressure! So, by now you've heard of or become addicted to Pinterest, right? Well, what started out as love and joy for me, has turned into an internet site which has now added 135,548 things to my already too long to-do list. All of these recipes and crafts and kid activities are now haunting me - DO ME DO ME DO ME. And Father's Day was no exception! Angels would sing about the Thai chicken (Mark's favorite) I was going to create! Daddy is a mighty smeller!
This Is How We Ritchies Roll: February.

Tuesday, December 2, 2014. Ever wonder what people in the Northeast do in the doldrums of winter? We build forts and look cute for all of 2 seconds before we poke each other in the behinds with the sticks and throw the balls at the ceiling and get the fort kit taken away:. We then make old-fashioned box and blanket forts that we don't want to share with our brother and sister:. We see way too many movies (find the hidden Noah if you can! What kind of weird 8 year old kid wants to do that? UNTIL I couldn'...

Thursday, May 31, 2012. Summer movie crop thoughts. Welp, since we've lost our babysitter (wailing, gnashing of teeth, writhing in agony), it looks like our summer entertainment will consist of a LOT of kid movies. We used to do cool things on dates. One time (many many many moons ago), Mark rented a limo for our anniversary date. We ate at a swanky restaurant and then had the limo drop us off to see "Nacho Libre." Tee hee! Anyway, enough of the reminiscing about when we used to be cool. *sigh*. My phone...

Sunday, November 24, 2013. We finally got our first real snow for the 2013-14 winter. It's only about 3 inches but we'll take it! Please and THANK YOU! Every year in winter I see this view. The neighbors (not just that house, but all around us) have a nicely shoveled/snowblown driveway and pristine, lovely sparkling snow. And now look down. That's our front yard and driveway. Now, here's the view out of our back windows:. Proof of life at our house. LOTS of it. After which in less than 10 minutes they'll...

Sunday, December 30, 2012. Christmas in 5 Long and Wordy Acts: ACT ONE. Ritchie Christmas 2012 Act 1: Random Unplanned Getaway Surprise Trip. 8230;because there's plenty of time and money for that right before Christmas, right? Mark remembered to take a few photos at the Museum of Play. As expected, Shelby loved the Dora and Diego exhibit. But wait, what's this? Two boys who think they're MUCH too cool to watch Dora or Diego anymore, playing with the Pirate Piggies? So, shopping for me! Lots of Christmas...

Monday, November 26, 2012. So, our beloved little Fluffernutter (introduced to you in this post: http:/ markandestelle.blogspot.com/2012/07/another-summer-surprise-wednesday.html. Is almost now a full-sized, grownup, mature cat. In size, anyway. In every other way, she's at that. I mean CUTE and ADORABLE post-kitten phase of getting into EVERYTHING. And Fluffer's preferred choice of toy? No matter where I hide them in my bathroom or closet she digs them back out. Yep, that's pretty normal for these parts.

Saturday, October 27, 2012. Could alternatively be titled, "How Family Memories Are Made."). Hmmmm, could also alternatively be titled, "Turns Out Mommy Won't Fight Zombies For You, Instead She Will Sacrifice You to the Zombies To Save Herself."). It was a time of terror. For them. And me. And a time of tears. For me. And them. Revelation Number 1. We need to toughen Noah up. That is, until Thriller came on and ended with its maniacal cackling evil laugh and I announced, "And with that, we're HERE! I kep...

Saturday, June 29, 2013. The Thrill of Victory - FINALLY! So, early summer has become a time of dread for our family. And NO, not because it's the beginning of summer vacation and having non-quality 24/7 kid time (though that would be a close second, as you can understand after reading last week's blog post. NOPE, what our family dreads most is the annual early summer Cub Scout competitive event. You know, the Pinewood Derby, Boat Regatta, etc. Those words strike fear and dread in my heart. But okay, fin...
