A Kindled Mind

Wednesday, November 19, 2008. Hammers, Hacksaws, and Lots of Sugar. On Friday morning, Amanda and I packed my car full of cake-decorating supplies, shortening, cream cheese, butter, powdered sugar, aprons, rolling pins, fondant, airbrush equipment, and 14 separate frozen cakes, and drove to New Albany, Indiana to make 2 huge cakes for our friend Monica’s wedding. Natch, we discovered the next morning that I had measured the dowels incorrectly. I was sent back to the superstore to buy more dowels, a s...

A Kindled Mind: You Gotta Love Wikipedia...

Friday, September 12, 2008. You Gotta Love Wikipedia. Even very slightly formal events can be a cause for cups and saucers to be used instead of mugs. A typical semi-formal British tea ritual might run as follows:. 1 The kettle is boiled and water poured into a tea pot. 2 Water is swirled around the pot to warm it and then poured out. 3 Loose tea leaves are then added to the pot while the kettle is reboiled. 5 A tea strainer, like a miniature sieve, is placed over the top of the cup and the tea poured in.

A Kindled Mind: Devon Goes to Chicago! (Part I)

http://akindledmind.blogspot.com/2008/08/devon-goes-to-chicago-part-i.html

Thursday, August 21, 2008. Devon Goes to Chicago! In the fine tradition of Franky Goes to Hollywood. Herbie Goes to Monte Carlo. Mr Smith Goes to Washington. Tarzan Goes to India. Juan Tamad Goes to Malacañang. And I could go on if this joke didn’t seem to be dying in mid-sentence. I feel as though something vital inside of me is fading. And, I must admit, I’ve read all of her books and enjoyed the hours of escape they provided. Little did I know what would be coming the next day. View my complete profile.

A Kindled Mind: Overheard

http://akindledmind.blogspot.com/2008/08/overheard.html

Tuesday, August 26, 2008. At this moment, my coworkers in the neighboring cubicle are discussing which of the Disney princesses is the sexiest. Currently, Belle is in the lead (she has the best face and most proportionate body) with Ariel in second thanks to the seashell bikini. Snow White gets an honorable mention. What am I doing here? Posted by Zinevra daGenoa @ 7:41 AM. You really should have just chimed in. The sexiest. Why? Brains, my friend. Brains. View my complete profile. Devon Goes to Chicago!

A Kindle & Kittens | Blog of kindle reads & life with two cats

A Kindle and Kittens. March 4, 2013 · 8:12 am. Between a Mother and Her Child – Elizabeth Noble. I’m a fan of Elizabeth Noble’s work, and have read a couple of her books before. Her writing style may not be to everybody’s taste, but for me, the story she writes about ticks along nicely and you find yourself wrapped up in the characters. Noble writes beautifully and this book made me cry in a few places, it is superbly written and very poignant in places. For me, another winner by Elizabeth Noble. I read ...

Kindle Fire

My experiences with the new Kindle Fire. Monday, December 30, 2013. I've owned my Kindle Fire for more than two years ago. I still think that for $200, it is a great buy and I've gotten my money's worth. I've downloaded numerous books and movies. I've also emailed numerous documents (phone lists, resume, etc.) to my kindle device. My battery is still functioning well. I keep the Fire plugged into my charger when not in use and I believe that helps, although some experts would disagree with this tactic.

A Kindle in Hong Kong

Thursday, April 23, 2015. Notes from the London Book Fair. I'm back in Hong Kong after nearly three weeks in London. I had a great time wandering around, catching up with old friends, and doing a bit of writing. One of my writing friends from Hong Kong moved back to London last year and she accompanied me around the fair. We attended talks at Author HQ, explored the expansive halls full publishers and book-related exhibitions, and chatted with other authors. I got to meet Joanna Penn. A few days later.
