I'm just saying...: Milestones
http://tspielberg.blogspot.com/2012/05/milestones.html
Navel-gazing, blather, minutiae. I have been seeing hundreds of Facebook and Sybermoms posts about everybody's 8th-graders graduating and getting ready for high school. I am sincerely happy for all of them, especially my CC2 friends' kids (all of us who had babies in 1998 and have been posting/meeting up ever since) but it really hit me today, for some reason. How has so much time gone by? 2016 is going to be so hard, when all her former classmates/friends/peers graduate from high school.

I'm just saying...: Decade
http://tspielberg.blogspot.com/2012/06/decade.html
Navel-gazing, blather, minutiae. So 10 years ago at just about this time, more or less, my friend Pam came to pick Hannah up to take her to their house so I could get some downtime and H. could play with her preschool buddy Laura. I need to find a way to get that into a digital format - I have wanted to show it to Emily ever since then. Finally, around the scene where the controller says "Bad news; the fog's getting thicker" and then a guy jumps in and says "And Leon's getting LARGER! She was really gorg...

I'm just saying...: Just stuff
http://tspielberg.blogspot.com/2012/04/just-stuff.html
Navel-gazing, blather, minutiae. Still a bit in shock about my cousin's death. I'm feeling a bit sluggish and unmotivated. Some of it is recovering from the vacation; getting back to the school grind and such. We're coming close enough to the end of the year that it's more difficult to get back into the whole thing when it'll all be done in about six weeks anyway. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Navel-gazing, blather, minutiae. A "professional" speech therapist who works exclusively with children should probably have at least a minimal knowledge of other education philosophies outside of the ONE school district she services. And where does she get off with the "I'm just Max's advocate and want what's best for him" with the puppy dog eyes. And just to make it that much more special, DO YOU HAVE TO WAIT INTIL LITERALLY ONE HOUR AFTER HE'S JUST LEFT HIS OLD PRESCHOOL FOR THE LAST TIME? I was on sha...

I'm just saying...: Spring Break
http://tspielberg.blogspot.com/2012/04/spring-break.html
Navel-gazing, blather, minutiae. Florida, though, as nice as it is to vacation here - I definitely would not want to live down here. It just seems too "vacation-y" and weird; not only the tourist parts but all of it. Well, I think I'm going to lie down and stare out at the stars for a while. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). I'm just saying...: Aaaand...
http://tspielberg.blogspot.com/2012/02/aaaand.html
Navel-gazing, blather, minutiae. Indeed, the definition of insanity is doing the same thing twice and expecting different results. Long story short - Montessori was YET AGAIN a clusterfuck, and Max is happily back at his old preschool, and I am kicking myself for wasting two weeks of my and my family's life. But - it's a long boring whiny story and even I am sick of it, so, onward. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). December 14, 2003. Emily goes to Kindergarten! My first sock - isn't it cute?

I'm just saying...: Touchstone
http://tspielberg.blogspot.com/2012/09/touchstone.html
Navel-gazing, blather, minutiae. This particular day, although it is of national and to some extent international significance, has become a touchstone for me about Hannah's memory. It doesn't diminish what I feel for everyone who lost loved ones or friends or mentors or neighbors that day, or the terror we all experienced. Or that the cable was glitching. I found the remote and started switching and noticed more channels were showing this. By then the news feeds had started to get coordinated an...All o...

I'm just saying...: Endings
http://tspielberg.blogspot.com/2012/06/endings.html
Navel-gazing, blather, minutiae. We will still be in touch with friends from there, and I have fingers crossed that we'll be attending some bar and bat mitzvahs in the years to come, and we have the synagogue around the corner with the rabbis up the street from us so we can still have some involvement, but losing the day-to-day aspect of Emily's life at Akiva is going to leave a big hole. I'm just saying...: So fucking unfair
http://tspielberg.blogspot.com/2012/04/so-fucking-unfair.html
Navel-gazing, blather, minutiae. It's funny because I kept feeling like I wanted to go back down to the valley and see the family there; I was missing Dad and thought it would be nice to go visit the place again. I wish it had just been a coincidence. I like to think that Hannah is meeting her cousin for the first time now. Why in the hell does this have to happen? Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).
