If there are 13 players on the team, plus 3 coaches, how many quarts will I need? Figure on each person eating 1 cup of ice cream. 13 3 = 16 cups. How many quarts is 16 cups? July 5, 2013. My definition of Equations and Functions. An equation says that whatever is on one side of the equal sign equals, or is the same as, whatever is on the other side. Crust sauce cheese pepperoni = pepperoni pizza. A function shows the relationship between what you put in and what you get out. The bread is the x value or what I put into the function. The toaster is the equation, or rule. The toast is the y value or what I get out of the function. F(x) = x 4. All clipart taken from Google images.
