Life as a moody blogger. Inspired by somebody who loves me. Faith and Sexuality: a synchro-blog. June 24, 2009. Greetings all those who pass this way today. I’m sorry that my post is hitting the charts a little late. You’ll have to forgive me, I was participating in an alpine hike that ended up being a little more grueling than I had anticipated! Today I am a part of a synchro-blog…a conversational blog between many writers. Here is the host site: www.btgproject.blogspot.co m. Now I know that there are m...

Emerging Christian - My Story of Evolving Faith: Stubbs - "Indebted Love" (Post 3)
http://www.emergingchristian.com/2014/04/stubbs-indebted-love-post-3.html
Stubbs - "Indebted Love" (Post 3). As an exploration of Paul’s dealing with subjection in Romans, Indebted Love. Engages the wrestling between Jesus' divine, uncompromising idealism, and Paul's own religious tradition and pragmatism in helping a nascent church build a solid footing. How does Christian transformation look in community? How does it impact society? Christian transformation demands tangible outworking in the real world. Partnering with Christ “in life” to produce environments tha...As I read...

Emerging Christian - My Story of Evolving Faith: "Unfinished Business" - Post 2

Unfinished Business" - Post 2. In Chapter 1 of Unfinished Business,. Day challenges the oversimplification of the “Black Church,” arguing that it is more than simply an institution of prophetic social witness. Black churches are diverse, complex and sometimes ambiguous in their theological and sociological positions. Later and even more severe, into the twentieth century many black churches rejected strategies of the American Civil Rights movement. Next, Day explores the prevalent concept of the Black Ch...

Downside Up: An Illustrated Kids Book for Grown-Ups. I haven't been blogging very often since my peak in maybe 2010. Since that time, I've been finishing my M.Div, had a baby in early 2014, and many of you voted for me last year to win a publishing package through www.CrowdScribed.com! Since then, I've been working on this project with my new friend Stacey Chomiak. Stacey is an incredibly gifted illustrator who has gotten on board with bringing the silly, rhyming verse of Downside Up. Links to this post.

Emerging Christian - My Story of Evolving Faith: Do we all have Adult ADD?
http://www.emergingchristian.com/2010/08/do-we-all-have-adult-add.html
Do we all have Adult ADD? I haven't been diagnosed, but my wife has commented, and now on vacation, with no real responsibilities except feeding the cats, I myself wonder. I love reading, and I love writing. I have always done both. But as a pre-teen homeschool kid, I could sit for six hours at a time, devouring book after book. I would often spend as much time sitting in front of my 386SX computer, attempting to recreate fantasy worlds like those of J.R.R. Tolkien or Terry Brooks. My mother bought us a ...

Emerging Christian - My Story of Evolving Faith: On Emerging And Emergent

On Emerging And Emergent. 8220;The Religious Right is so huge, so powerful, that any divergence from it will automatically become the Religious Left.” — J. 8220;There’s confusion between keeping relevant and just keeping up.” — Leonard Sweet. Lots of folks use words like "emerging" and "Emergent" but they often mean very different things. A few years ago I almost got myself into some trouble writing an article for. The controversy surrounding the article was palpable and a little surprising, as I wasn...

Emerging Christian - My Story of Evolving Faith: On The Future
http://www.emergingchristian.com/p/on-future.html
What's next is what's always next: change. And what's next will keep changing as long as we are human beings led, confounded, baffled and inspired by a living, active God. The Holy Spirit is not static. Neither should we be. Even as I continue writing at a blog called "Emerging" I realize the phrase is tired, stale, agonizingly- hipster. Time for another reformation. Like nobody had heard of it before. Owever subtly, everything we see has already happened. We live our lives viewing the past. As Christian...

Monya A. Stubbs – "Indebted Love: Paul’s Subjection Language in Romans" (Post 2). I’ve been out of writing commission for a little while now. My only excuse is: this baby is coming, and life is upside down! 8230; That doesn’t change, does it? Monya A. Stubbs. I can honestly say that my reading in black theology has deeply impacted me in my day-to-day thinking. It’s not that I didn’t think about the issues of race, class, privilege and identity before. 8220;How can we sit still? Similar arguments can be m...
