We listened to some lore and other mythological stories about how the totem poles came to be. It was clear that bodies were cremated and left in a compartment at the back of the totem pole. There was competition chopping logs in various ways, sawing logs by hand and by chain saw, rolling logs, running up logs, hoisting logs, rolling on logs, and climbing logs. Our first cruise experience was a Holland America trip to Alaska in order to see fjords, glaciers, aboriginal communities and wilderness areas which are relatively inaccessible by other means. We made stops at Juneau, Skagway and Ketchikan. The ship cruised the beautiful Inside Passage. While onboard, we enjoyed cruise ship amenities with an Alaskan theme.
