Alaska with attitude : Writers aren't that difficult to deal with, are they?
http://www.alaskaatitude.blogspot.com/2015/07/writers-arent-that-difficult-to-deal.html
Tuesday, July 28, 2015. Writers aren't that difficult to deal with, are they? From The Writers Group facebook. Wice in past week or so posts have shown up on facebook. Listing questions or statements not to make to writers. Both lists ring true. I've heard several of them myself and I'm pretty sure the others are valid; at least if I heard them I know I wouldn't like it. Of the lists, I would emphasize one item and change another. No. 5 on the list in the graphic is: "Leave a writer alone when th...Smoot...
Alaska with attitude : September 2008
http://www.alaskaatitude.blogspot.com/2008_09_01_archive.html
Thursday, September 25, 2008. Numbers 4 and 5. To steal a phrase from my daughter who pulled it off in the perfect situation: I'll get back to you on that. The picture is a visitor to the feeder last year, a hairy woodpecker. Links to this post. Tuesday, September 23, 2008. It had to happen on the Equinox. Twelve hours of darkness, twelve hours of daylight and this morning for the first time this fall, the temperature below freezing. Links to this post. Monday, September 22, 2008. Links to this post.
Alaska with attitude : What's the symbolism here?
http://www.alaskaatitude.blogspot.com/2015/07/whats-symbolism-here.html
Wednesday, July 22, 2015. What's the symbolism here? Curious, very curious. Eginning the mystery of the black pansy. I prefer starting from seeds rather than buying already blossoming plants off the rack at the supermarket, so these just showed up in the past week after a start indoors and more than a month outdoors. Now I think they have more of a use as something of a muse. But the pansies, at least one, added an unexpected twist. What does the black symbolize? And further, why only three? I'm a drinke...
Alaska with attitude : October 2008
http://www.alaskaatitude.blogspot.com/2008_10_01_archive.html
Friday, October 31, 2008. I put this off for a while, not really enthusiastic about returning to that store. The other day I made a trip in another direction and realizing I was going to pass the other Honda dealer around here, I planned a stop, even took another shear bolt off the machine to take with me for comparison. I had to smile. realizing in this place I was much closer to Alaska than I had been in that modern showroom in Anchorage. Links to this post. Friday, October 10, 2008. Links to this post.
Alaska with attitude : Harvest
http://www.alaskaatitude.blogspot.com/2015/08/harvest.html
Thursday, August 13, 2015. Potatoes, onions, lettuce, spinach and zucchinis. Not much to say about it, but delivered some groceries to my daughter's house today. I warned her ahead of time to call some friends because I was bringing it big time. How does your Alaska garden grow? Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Give someone a book and they'll read all day. Teach someone to write a book and they'll spend a lifetime mired in paralyzing self doubt." – Lauren DeStefano. It was like the aftermath of an org...

Murder of Crows | Indeterminata
https://indeterminata.wordpress.com/2014/02/23/murder-of-crows
February 23, 2014. There seem to be a lot of animals in the novel that I’m writing. So far there’s Henry, a pitbull from West Oakland, and two parrots who live in Berkeley. And somehow a murder of crows have flown into the story and are roosting in a tree near Julia’s house in San Francisco where they are annoying her jet-lagged husband Rob. 8220;Crows Moon” photo by Daniel Hoherd. Okay, okay. I got the message and moved on. Recently I read a book called In the Company of Crows and Ravens. Human developm...

The Palmer Post: Cash mob coming to a business near you!
http://the-palmerpost.blogspot.com/2013/01/cash-mob-coming-to-business-near-you.html
Wednesday, January 16, 2013. Cash mob coming to a business near you! No, not THAT kind of mob . THIS kind of mob! A mob will descend on Palmer Bar Thursday at 6:30 pm It's OK. The mob will be holding $20 bills. It's very business-friendly. Most people are familiar with flash mobs - the sudden and seemingly unscripted appearance of large groups of singers or dancers as coordinated by smart phone. September 29, 2013 at 3:32 AM. A beautiful day at the Alaska State Fair last Saturday kicked off with the always popular parade. A real-deal famous musical act - country mega-duo Big and Rich - played that night. And for once, a BP donation got kids under 12 in free . on a weekend! The worst fair traffic in history. But the rest of us got stuck in traffic.

Saturday, August 15, 2015. Commercial fisherman has an amazing encounter with porpoises. Three Dall porpoises play around the bow of a tour boat in. Alaska's Prince William Sound. Uring the past couple of weeks there have been two stories circulating on the Internet about whales tangled in garbage or fishing gear approaching boats as if to ask for help getting rid of it. In both cases folks were able to remove that tangling material. Mike's story is even better. He took a skiff and drove it along the net...

Alaska At Last
My journey to the great state of Alaska started June 13, 2009. This is an attempt to share the adventure with my family and friends who are so much a part of the story. Don't cry because it's over. Smile because it happened. In a 207 Over Western Alaska. I maybe in Anchorage but guess what? That just means so are you:).

Sept 20: A Random Rant. September 16: New Addition to the Family. A week ago we went to the Kerrville Humane Society and found our new little girl. Her name is Bailey (middle name not yet finalized) and she is part Lab and part Australian shepherd. As you can see, she has a very noble profile! The Australian shepherd part must account for the unusual markings on her front legs and chest. She’s one and half years old, but still has plenty of puppy in her! You can see the mischief in those eyes! We walked ...
