Living on Shertzer Time: November 2012

Living on Shertzer Time. Monday, November 26, 2012. Let's just pretend it hasn't been weeks since I blogged, okay. . . Benjamin has really been into music lately, not just listening to it, but making it. I've found him plucking at piano keys on more than one occasion lately and he's so darn cute! He insists on getting out the book of kid songs, despite the fact that he can't read any of the music. He knows you have to see those notes before you can start playing! And it was music to my ears! Amy Shertzer...

Monday, September 10, 2012. Such a precious gift! Love like HE loves: Laughing. I first heard about this video over a month ago and couldn't wait to see our boy in action. Today was the day. As I sat filling out our visa applications, I received the email from sweet Christine that she had posted it. What a blessing! Love him so much already! Sunday, September 2, 2012. She was heartbroken for those children. She spoke of being overwhelmed by the need there. I understood that feeling so very well. She look...

Friday, November 2, 2012. Our flight to Chicago was scheduled to leave Dayton at 8:50am on 10/31. The kids wore their new shirts that say, "I can't wait to meet my new little brother! After some concerns with the safety of the plane (oxygen issues.not super comforting) which delayed takeoff, we were finally on our way. We left Chicago at 12:50pm on 10/31 and arrived in Beijing at 3:20pm on 11/1. Wowthat was a long flight.with 5 kids.I. Am really thankful we arrived safely in China. November 2, 2012 at 1:...

the raymond roost: May 2011

Sunday, May 29, 2011. Back into the blogging world I go. I suppose only time will tell if I can stick with it this time. Life has been especially crazy since I started the blog. We moved and shortly thereafter I was very sick for a few months with this pregnancy. Anyway, I will try it again. It seems that the kids asked every single day when the baby would arrive. In that sense, it was a VERY LONG nine months! I decided to lay down to get a little more rest before labor (a mistake? This certainly helped ...

Monday, November 19, 2012. Gotcha Day - Day 5. We left Beijing on 11/4 and flew to Zhengzhou. Zhengzhou is the capital of Henan province. We woke up on Monday morning and headed to the local registration office along with 10 other families. We were told that we would be there for 2 1/2 hours and that there wasn't a lot of rhyme or reason as to when you would receive your child. Boy, was that the truth! And then there was Elijah; he just slept through it - ha! Of course I cried. Lucy loved him right away.

the raymond roost: Beijing - Day 2
http://raymondroost.blogspot.com/2012/11/beijing-day-2.html
Thursday, November 8, 2012. Beijing - Day 2. Today we woke up and headed out for another day of touring. Our first stop was a jade factory. It was amazing to watch them carve the jade. There were so many beautiful things! Our next stop was the Great Wall of China. Words cannot do justice to explain that structure. Our children have studied about it this year and talked about climbing it for months. It truly was a dream come true and something to cross off the "bucket list.". It seemed so surreal. I picke...

Monday, September 5, 2011. It's amazing what we will do for free food! Actually, Andrew and Lily had a great time constructing our costumes for Chick-Fil-A's Cow Appreciation Day. If you dress like a cow, they will give you a free meal - brilliant! Our kids thought they were living high on the hog when they each got their own kids meal - ha! Our total came to around $28 and it was all FREE. Have I mentioned that I love a bargain? Blueberry Picking with Caroline. She was very proud of herself! Sven and I ...
