Life In Sugar Hollow: DIY - Galvanized Tin Containers
http://lifeinsugarhollow.blogspot.com/2007/04/diy-galvanized-tin-containers.html
Sunday, April 1, 2007. DIY - Galvanized Tin Containers. I had mentioned in passing, in my Recycling in the Container Garden post. Tin buckets for containers. Last year, not sure how to create drainage holes, I just filled the bottom of each bucket with gravel and then soil. Not the best option for outdoor containers. Any deluge would result in my flowers drowning . . . These buckets were $3 finds at our local Dollar General. A little Martha Stewart- ish. April 4, 2007 at 11:10 AM. About : Press : Articles.

Life In Sugar Hollow: The Winter, The Winter
http://lifeinsugarhollow.blogspot.com/2015/02/winter-winter.html
Tuesday, February 10, 2015. The Winter, The Winter. Lately, I feel as if my own voice has been reduced to a squeak. The vast, quiet of winter landscapes is good for this type of regrouping, no doubt. No garden to tend to. No pull to rush outside and be doing something fabulous. I spend a chunk of my alone time just staring out at the mountains, allowing my brain to go . . . void. In a good way for me, in a probably frustrating way for my family. There is, indeed, gratitude for a full life. From the t...

Life In Sugar Hollow: DIY - Building a Raised Bed
http://lifeinsugarhollow.blogspot.com/2007/04/diy-building-raised-bed.html
Tuesday, April 3, 2007. DIY - Building a Raised Bed. My introduction to our land was almost comical. Not truly knowing its history, I set out during my first spring in Sugar Hollow with great hopes. I arose with the sun - with a naive plan to create my little bit of heaven. All 5' 1" one of me. Disappointed and immediately overwhelmed, I went back to the drawing board. Clay compacted by cattle for decades was not going to be moved by the likes of me. Then, an idea - The Raised Bed. From the Ground Up.

Life In Sugar Hollow:
http://lifeinsugarhollow.blogspot.com/2015/03/weve-been-hit-by-several-eleventh-hour.html
Monday, March 9, 2015. And, honestly, the rest of it is a blur. Lots of reading and movies and the small 'track' in our house was well-worn with running, squealing kids. March is the month of birthdays around here, too. Two, seven and forty-four! I enjoyed your ode to the ending of winter. It was a welcome day here on the coast as well. I took a bike ride through the city where couples were out hand in hand, lots of dogs being walked, people jogging, and others just lazing in the sun. Samples of my artic...

Life In Sugar Hollow: Breathe Magazine - Planning for Preserving
http://lifeinsugarhollow.blogspot.com/2007/02/breathe-magazine-planning-for-preserving.html
Friday, February 2, 2007. Breathe Magazine - Planning for Preserving. I have a vision. An image in my mind’s eye of how next winter’s pantry will look. It will glimmer a little with glass and metal. It will hold much promise. It will provide for my family. I will feel accomplished and domestic. It will be filled with rows of canning jars twinkling and inviting with the harvested treasures tucked away for future consumption. A side thought on canning to take that overwhelmed edge off. Start with small.

Life In Sugar Hollow: In Full Swing/Spring
http://lifeinsugarhollow.blogspot.com/2015/05/getting-all-of-gardening-things-done.html
Tuesday, May 26, 2015. This spring, I have had to become a master rose slug spotter. For years, I thought it was leaf miners decimating my roses. But a pair of reading glasses revealed rose slugs. Bam! My vintage climbing rose is so much happier these days, now that I have spent some time picking off those little suckers. Yes Dancing at Fridays After Five? Yes Dinner parties at family-friendly homes? Yes Kicking back in the stroller? All The Light We Cannot See. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Sample...
