Jury Duty in New York City
http://www.albertsun.com/2012/05/jury-duty-summons
Laquo; Albert Sun. Jury Duty in New York City. May 26, 2012. My New York City jury summons instructs me to report to 111 Centre St, Room 1121 on Wednesday May 23rd at 9 am. The video ends and we wait some more. After a little while a woman arrives to the front of the room and starts talking. People shout out here! As she reads names of people who will be part of the first jury panel. A long, long list of questions begins to be asked of us by the judge. Then both lawyers, first the proescutor and then the...
Economic Analysis of the New York Times Paywall

Laquo; Albert Sun. Economic Analysis of the New York Times Paywall. Jan 26, 2010. After the New York Times announced its metered paywall last week there has been a lot of empty blather. Standing out from all the noise are two very good analyses. The first was by Felix Salmon for Reuters, analyzing a consumers decision of whether or not to pay. The second one was by Jonathan Stray on Nieman Lab, showing the effect of several different variables. Article Values are Different. The reader would clearly choos...
Paying for Convenience, not Content
http://www.albertsun.com/2009/10/paying-for-convenience-not-content
Laquo; Albert Sun. Paying for Convenience, not Content. Oct 13, 2009. The two sites that are constantly cited as success stories for paid online subscriptions are the Financial Times. And the Wall Street Journal. What do these subscription systems have in common, other than a large base of paying users? Both are stupidly easy to circumvent. Look at the proliferation of paid iPhone apps. Many (especially Twitter apps) just provide a nicer interface. Convenient. What would make a site more convenient?
One Block in Crown Heights
http://www.albertsun.com/2013/09/one-block-crown-heights
Laquo; Albert Sun. One Block in Crown Heights. Sep 20, 2013. Zack Friedman, David Lei and I made this thing for bklynr.com. Exploring the history of one block in Crown Heights. You should check it out. This is my first time doing freelance work of any sort and it was an interesting experience. The editors there were great to work with and they have some very cool things going on. I’m impressed at how organized and on top of things they are especially considering they both have day jobs.
Process Post: MetroCard Swipes Project
http://www.albertsun.com/2011/12/process-post-metrocard-swipes-project
Laquo; Albert Sun. Process Post: MetroCard Swipes Project. Dec 9, 2011. One of my last projects for the WSJ was a story. Of New York City showing the usage of different types of MetroCards at different subway stations. I always mean to write process posts, describing how I did things. I think show your work is a great idea. And have really enjoyed reading other people’s posts showing. I never got to write one about my foursquare check-ins project. False start with turnstile data. Real start, cleaning data.

Reliability, Maintenance, Operations, Projects, and Engineering. Mastery by Robert Greene. 8220;The misery that oppresses you lies not in your profession but in yourself! What man in the world would not find his situation intolerable if he chooses a craft, an art, indeed any form of life, without experiencing an inner calling? Whoever is born with a talent, or to a talent, must surely find in that the most pleasing of occupations! Everything on this earth has its difficult sides! In many ways, the books ...

Periodista. En clave de sociedad. Ir al contenido principal. Ir al contenido secundario. Say it in English. Spain: Towards the end of the two-party system? 999 veces ‘no’. Puedes pensar. Más vale tener algo que tener nada.
