sami rose knows: December 2008
http://samiroseknows.blogspot.com/2008_12_01_archive.html
Thursday, December 18, 2008. In class we had to remember a time when were made aware of either our gender or race. I remembered back to when I was younger and my family went with family friends to go get pumpkins for Halloween. The family is bi-racial, the mom is white and the dad is from an island near Jamaca, and he's black. The dad, Varo, had a nephew who came to stay with the family while he went to school in Madison. And the nephew came with us to the pumpkin farm. Tuesday, December 16, 2008. Even y...

sami rose knows: Killing Us Softly
http://samiroseknows.blogspot.com/2009/01/killing-us-softly.html
Friday, January 16, 2009. I also agree with what she's been saying and your blog is so true. Ever since seeing this documentary, I've noticed this kind of thing more and more with men and women in advertisments. January 18, 2009 at 6:07 PM. Yes, it's very true women are targeted more severly than men. I never knew how bad you had it =[. January 19, 2009 at 7:43 PM. I liked the movie too. IT's really a reality check. Brittanya's Blog: Every Little Hurricane
http://brittanyasblog.blogspot.com/2008/11/every-little-hurricane.html
Thursday, November 20, 2008. The story "Every Little Hurricane" as of now, is my favorite story read in class. The metaphors and symbolic language created a fantastic depiction of alcoholism. I grew up with alcoholism. In my family, not as Victor in Every Little Hurricane. Did, but I still did. Can easily pass, just like bad whether. In the beginning of the story, when the Victor speak of his uncle's fighting, he says that they were "slugging each other. Damage. With a stranger, you're. However, the pers...

Thursday, December 4, 2008. War What is it good for? After reading the first few chapters of Slaughter-House V, I was ecstatic. Finally, I get an opportunity to talk about my opinon on war. If you read my previous entries, I'm sure you already know my position. I am 100% against war. Sounds fishy to me. The government never seems to mention that there is oil over in Iraq. DING DING DING, looks like we've found the real reason for this pointless war. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). I guess I need to read more.

Brittanya's Blog: my ironic life
http://brittanyasblog.blogspot.com/2008/11/my-ironic-life.html
Wednesday, November 26, 2008. First off, I have to ask why we are focusing on the Native American stories. From what I've noticed, it's either been Caucasian. Or native main characters. Either way, this story was something that really effected me. It talks of a kid, who knows his dad was a " partyer". When he was younger. Now, his father is tied down to a family and drinks. Eventually it strains the narrators parent's marriage. My parents divorced when I was 9 years old from my fathers consistent. Read, ...

ORGUAM IS AWESOME!: Still tired, but need to pass class
http://orguamisawesome.blogspot.com/2008/12/still-tired-but-need-to-pass-class.html
Thursday, December 4, 2008. Still tired, but need to pass class. Title pretty much sums it up for me this morning. Chapters 3 and 4 of Slaughter-House-Five. Ok, blogging done. Need to go comment seriously now. Also, why doesn't this blogging application capitalize your "i's" automatically, its really bugging me. Hmmmmmm.I thought that those two chapters were o.k. but a point I wanted to make was I like the similies that he uses in these chapters. Dec 18, 2008, 11:54:00 AM. Jan 14, 2009, 8:13:00 AM.

sami rose knows: Being Censored
http://samiroseknows.blogspot.com/2008/12/being-censored.html
Wednesday, December 3, 2008. In our free write journal the other day we were asked whether or not we've ever been denied ideas/materials/points of view because of censorship. And I realized that this has happened to me without the word censorship jumping out at me. I agree with you 100% on both paragraphs. When i was younger, i also would watch movies that weren't meant for me at that age. There's a reason why they put ratings on it such as "R" usually for violence or sex. December 3, 2008 at 8:23 AM.

Friday, January 16, 2009. Again I'm aware of my Race. I was born white. I've grown up in McFarland where there is hardly any diversity within the community and I think that has all helped me to become more stereotypically. I consistently wonder what I may have been like if I still lived there. Would I have taken on the role of a "ghetto" person. I don't know but it's something to think about if I wouldn't have the stereotypical white person personality. Thursday, January 8, 2009. The End of Caucasia!
