Week One: Ward 10. Friday 17th September 2004 ( Day 22 ). During the night he woke a few times, the nurses thought he may be in pain or suffering from morphine withdrawal so Alex was given a small amount of oramorph. Other than being broken by crying fits he did sleep well. The plan was for Tom to go home with one of his sets of grandparents but when told it was time to go Tom became very upset. Week One: Ward 10. Week One: Ward 10. Thursday 8th July 2004 ( Day 2 ). We were moved over to Ward 10 during the morning. Alex still needs an oxygen feed near him but has now been taken off all the continuous monitors that were needed in PICU. This made me a little nervous: my little boy still looked gravely sick and needs all the monitoring he can get. I steeled myself to go with the choice of the doctors and consultants. Week One: Ward 10. Tuesday 27th July 2004 ( Day 22 ). It took about 45 minutes to fight our way through rush-hour traffic to LGI. There was no other reasonable method to travel since we would have had to book a ambulance 48 hour in advance. I did not know Kirsten was going to have flu and so the car was not here. Week One: Ward 10. Tuesday 17th August 2004 ( Day 15 ). Early rise at about 6 and a quick escape before his crying disturbed the other three kids and parents. Unfortunately his drip stand was blocked by Luis's so lots of clattering, banging, crying and swearing later and the bay was at peace again. Week One: Ward 10. Tuesday 5th October 2004 (Day 8). Alex spent the morning at Joan and Davids so Kirsten could go into work and I could try.
