Visual Enquiry: August 2011
http://alexacoxvisual.blogspot.com/2011_08_01_archive.html
Monday, 8 August 2011. David Harrison is an artist whose love of nature. Is the primary inspiration for his work. Living in the centre of London where man claims every inch of space for himself, it's hard to imagine a parallel world. In its undergrowth where nature adapts as its habitat shrinks. But this invisible world is a cause of wonder which feeds his work.'. Http:/ poodle666.com/index.php. Rather reminds me of Peter Blake's 'Midsummer' and 'Alice' paintings. I May Not Be A Ruralist Any More. Boys i...

Visual Enquiry: September 2011
http://alexacoxvisual.blogspot.com/2011_09_01_archive.html
Monday, 26 September 2011. Looking in and looking out is an interesting idea (exaggerated by framing). I should explore self and the mirror further. Is there a difference between how a person appears in person, in a photograph and on film? The multiples remind J of Andy Warhol's screen prints - could I explore this through print repetition. Can I show different personalities of the same person? Posted by Alexa Cox. Sunday, 25 September 2011. Posted by Alexa Cox. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Visual Enquiry: November 2011
http://alexacoxvisual.blogspot.com/2011_11_01_archive.html
Tuesday, 29 November 2011. Alice in Wonderland - Tate Liverpool. A couple of weekends ago I went up to Liverpool to visit the Tate's Alice in Wonderland exhibition. These are some elements which I found interesting and may have an impact on my practice. Liliana Porter's piece collage of rabbit hole ephemera indicates a jumbled and fractured story or pieces of a broken mirror. This brings a more textural element to collage and could link to image and object collections. Francesca Woodman and Duane Michels...

Exploratory Project: Day of Making
http://alexacoxexpro.blogspot.com/2012/04/day-of-making.html
Wednesday, 11 April 2012. These photos record the point I got up to after the morning of making.the colour is slightly muddier than in real life but perspective is right (photos taken from above). The top image shows the paintings the way round that they were intended but I have also shown them the other way round which I feel has quite a different dynamic as the figures lean into each other. The figures looked sinister. The viewer is challenged by their direct gaze. Like the Midwich cuckoos.
