April 3rd Hail & Thunderstorm. April 4, 2014. April 4, 2014. In the end, the meteorologists were reluctant to call anything a tornado in our neck of the woods, but we still had one massive wall cloud, lots of hail and 82 mph wind gusts reported at Denton Airport! Between the hail and wind gusts, it sure sounded like a tornado. Overall, we are blessed that everyone made it out OK (Bo and Rainey included). Can you say. Weather when we got home. Learned that hail freezes in concentric rings at it forms!
