Thin Places - those places or events in life where the dividing line between the holy and the ordinary is very thin. to the point that the ordinary becomes holy and the holy becomes ordinary. Thursday, January 29, 2015. Sam Smith has a great song getting a lot of play on the radio these days called Stay with Me. And which is nominated for a Grammy. There are two phrases (six notes) that match a song by Tom Petty which you can hear in the mash up below. And yet another one. I am sure that if we looked a b...

Thin Places - those places or events in life where the dividing line between the holy and the ordinary is very thin. to the point that the ordinary becomes holy and the holy becomes ordinary. Wednesday, July 29, 2015. Huckabee is not worthy. Mike Huckabee should be ashamed of himself but instead he is doubling down. Mike Huckabee has removed himself from any serious consideration as a political candidate and has called into question his right to call himself a follower of Jesus. Tuesday, July 28, 2015.

How To Be Impressively Awesome: You Want To Be Criticized!
http://howtobeimpressivelyawesome.blogspot.com/2013/08/you-want-to-be-criticized.html
How To Be Impressively Awesome. Friday, August 9, 2013. You Want To Be Criticized! I used to have a major problem with people giving me feedback. I used to take it really personally and get all butt hurt over it. I would sulk and pout and let it take me into a horrible spiral of self-doubt. I would snap at people who criticized me thinking they meant to hurt my feelings. Thankfully, I didn't stay a moody whiny teenager forever. This is a little easier to take less personally. I've even gotten to the poin...

Thin Places - those places or events in life where the dividing line between the holy and the ordinary is very thin. to the point that the ordinary becomes holy and the holy becomes ordinary. Tuesday, July 08, 2014. A few years ago I was on a flight and got talking with a woman who was an orthodox Calvinist. Before we left the plane she remarked that we worshiped a different Jesus. She was probably correct. There are more than one important areas of life where such a distinction is possible. Promote Your...

Thin Places - those places or events in life where the dividing line between the holy and the ordinary is very thin. to the point that the ordinary becomes holy and the holy becomes ordinary. Tuesday, July 14, 2015. Separation of Church and State - The Bill of Rights. Two things inspired this post and at least one that will follow it. First, on July 4, James Dunn died. James was one of my heroes as the director of the Baptist Joint Committee for Religious Liberty. Let me make very clear one critical obse...

Thursday, August 27, 2015. Who Gets to Decide. Once I had a discussion with a hyper-conservative Calvinist. At the end of our talk, she remarked, "We worship a different Jesus." She was right. It doesn't seem unreasonable then that the same title doesn't fit both of us. So, who gets to decide? I would also argue tha...

K. Chrisbacher, Author - Things I find interesting are worthy to write about...

K Chrisbacher, Author. Here's a little ditty I wrote about a year ago. A COUNTRY BOY'S ODE TO DENIAL. Today Denial left you alone in my head. Without its cover, we are dead. It packed its bags and flew the coop. Now all that’s left is the cold, hard truth. Oh, come back to me, my beloved Denial. Without you there’s no use pretending…. That it’s not over, it’s not ending. My love for Denial was the only thing going for you. Without its facade I’m left sad and blue. But without it, you’re just baggage.

Thursday, February 26, 2015. Raising White: Recognizing Privilege and Becoming an Ally. You might not know this about me, but I'm white. Like pasty super white. My husband is impossibly whiter than me. And our kid? I love our son. He is a sweet boy and I hope he grows up to be a wonderful human being. That is why I have to reconcile myself to the fact that I have to work to make him recognize how white he is. A white boy, who will hopefully grow into a white man. I gave birth to a potential white man.

Raising An Alien: A Dad & Partner
http://raisinganalien.blogspot.com/2015/07/a-dad-partner.html
Wednesday, July 15, 2015. A Dad and Partner. When I was younger I always saw myself as getting married and having kids, but I wasn't sure anyone could ever hold my attention long enough to actually commit. I mean, I fell in love easily enough. I fell hard several times. I was infatuated ten times that number. I could see the beauty in people, so it was easy for me to love them. But to live with them? To stay with them forever? I don't think so. And then I met Christian. Happy Birthday, to my life partner...
