Alex Merritt/Steve Fishwick Quintet. Alex Merritt/Sam Leak Quartet. Alex Merritt/Steve Fishwick Quintet. This recently formed band is an exciting collaborative project between Alex and Steve and also James Maddren (drums), John Turville (piano) and Mick Coady (bass). The band played a storming set at Ronnies late show in June (see/hear below) and is set to continue with some exciting dates later in the year.

Alex Merritt/Steve Fishwick Quintet. Alex Merritt/Sam Leak Quartet. Alex has been interested in composition from a very young age. He had some very inspirational teachers at a formative stage of his musical education who stimulated his musical imagination and introduced him to many of the greats from the classical tradition such as Claude Debussy, Igor Stravinsky, Alban Berg and Bela Bartok, some of the figures Alex has subsequently been greatly influenced by. Is informed by work he has done in this area.
