A Life in Habits: Cycles 13 and 14: Desiring-Machine by Carlos Reyes

http://alifeinhabits.blogspot.com/2005/12/chapters-13-and-14-desiring-machine.html

A Life in Habits. Cycles 13 and 14: Desiring-Machine. At the beach: Soggy toes ergo sum. In a jungle: Mosquitoes ergo sum. In the city: Graffito ergo sum. At a Mexican restaurant: Burrito ergo yum. Have we become the ghosts of our machines? You are what you eye. You I what you eye.). Not Only . . . But Also . . . Metaphor maker. Metamorphosis machine. Third eye. Dream of an I-less eye. Unmasker. Masker. Mixer. Maker. Unmaker. Who knows what this shot will expose? Never the same world twice. In: Dream of ...

A Life in Habits: Cycle 4: Musical Chairs by Carlos Reyes

http://alifeinhabits.blogspot.com/2005/10/chapter-4-musical-chairs.html

A Life in Habits. Cycle 4: Musical Chairs. Did you know that possessed. Have the same root as hostage. As well as chair. Why do painters stand and writers sit? How many men have I bedded on this couch? Nietzsche was a walker, Picasso a stander, the Buddha a sitter, and Proust a lier what am I? What is a chair? What makes a chair a chair? A breast is not a chair. A guest, a test, a jest, a nest, a quest are not chairs. A chest (whether hairy or smooth) is not a chair. And if I sit on it?

A Life in Habits: Cycle 10: Like Shit by Carlos Reyes

http://alifeinhabits.blogspot.com/2005/11/chapter-10-like-shit.html

A Life in Habits. Cycle 10: Like Shit. The mind is the idea of the body. Spinoza said. What is the idea of the mouth? How does the mind eat? Thinking thinking thinking the mind eats its own shit.). My penis is my pen, piss and spunk my ink. Though the idea offends us (we reserve our strongest disgust for what was or is a part of us), we are what we shit. (Archaeologists have always known human history is written in shit.). Every day I touch my shit. How can I describe the feel of it?

in the hall of mirrors: Food and Drink

http://inthehallofmirrors.typepad.co.uk/in_the_hall_of_mirrors/food_and_drink

In the hall of mirrors. In the realm of the sensate. This evening, the Late Shows in the Ouseburn in an area of studios and galleries, a few small museums, the Ouseburn river running through it all this is the point in the year when they open everything up, and keep it open, late. Basically a big open house by a whole community of artists. A series of about twenty framed woodblocks, all about 4x4, of places around the area, the style recalling 1930s urban images; but the one that made me pause was in the...

In the hall of mirrors. I am in Zürich for a week, at the end of the normal Jung-Institut training sessions. I went to the graduation ceremony; there was an unusually large number of graduates, including a lot of friends (some of whom started after I did, but oh well). Hope to be up there in a year it is still possible; we’ll see. So, yes, basically: hot. A couple of days ago, I left the HIV patient group not in a huff, but definitely. I feel surprisingly calm about it: I was increasingly argumentati...

in the hall of mirrors: Awareness

http://inthehallofmirrors.typepad.co.uk/in_the_hall_of_mirrors/awareness

In the hall of mirrors. Cracks in the world. A strange and fragmented time. It feels like a distant echo of the 1930s: erosion, disintegration of supports and safety. Feral rage, roving attacks. A distant whiff of rot and gunpowder. The hope is that things wont get worse. if it were really like the 1930s, in a few years we would be looking at a major war, one that would occur for ludicrous reasons. But that would destroy. a lot. Does that seem like an overreaction? Yes, of course: shades of Eliade, Speng...

Nine years - in the hall of mirrors

http://inthehallofmirrors.typepad.co.uk/in_the_hall_of_mirrors/2015/05/nine-years.html

In the hall of mirrors. In the realm of the sensate ». Nine years ago today, this blog was begun. in 2006. And this the 708th post! So, about one every 4.6 days. Not as often as I feel-that-I-should, but steady enough I guess. So, hows it going? Reducing the slangy and everyday was never a conscious decision I think some of it might be my own relative isolation over the past thirteen years; plus the fact that, now that Im studying at the Jung-Institut, my brain is working harder again which is good.

Existence - in the hall of mirrors

http://inthehallofmirrors.typepad.co.uk/in_the_hall_of_mirrors/2015/06/existence.html

In the hall of mirrors. Power down / delete / restart ». Time recently past: too much stress since about the first of June some of which twisted at me such that my guts started to react: I felt relatively calm but my body didnt. Id still like to ascribe this partly to current liver damage; which will hopefully be cured in August-October; which will perhaps improve the situation a bit. though yes, I know: once your body gets into certain tension/stress patterns its there, perhaps, forever. I undoubtedly t...

In the hall of mirrors. Laquo; It's complicated. Through all this, I and the delicately beautiful young woman in my row, in a stylish summer dress and dark red high heels Spanish, Israeli? I cant help it one bark of laughter. No one notices; she smiles with me, laughs quietly. And we relax as the plane rises. I show her this when it is written, and we talk; she is Turkish, but has grown up in the Netherlands. We talk about family, food, the places we’ve traveled, for two hours. Tiere sind wir,. A Life in Full...

A Life in Full. List Project: Building a Life in Full. It was the List. I think I can trace it all back to the List. Back when I was a reeeally bored teenager in Indiana (need I say more? I'd read about a fellow named John Goddard. The article was in a 1972 issue of LIFE magazine about this man who, when 15 years old, wrote down 127 goals he wanted to accomplish, hence his List. He had done so in the 1940s and this article was on h. When motivation is lean or uncertainty of future accomplishment is waxing.

A Life In His Hands. Thursday, April 2, 2009. I know I have been really bad about posting anything on here- Sorry! Life is crazy and I barely have time to sit down. But I LOVE reading all of your posts and will hopefully get some time to post this weekend! Friday, January 9, 2009. Last months post I never put up! Where do I begin? 2008 flew by (December especially) and 2009 has continued to fly by for me! The following week I flew out to California (and dragged Mom with me) to visit tons of friends that ...
