October 3, 2007. I have decided to move my blog to a new site. To read all future entries you will now have to click HERE. October 2, 2007. Here’s a lovely spot on the Ottawa River just east of Orleans. My mother and I spent an afternoon there last month, trying to sketch this view in watercolours:. Another part of the island has a pond, full of frogs, muskrats and herons, that reflects the passing clouds:. Carol tells me there’s a plan to put a road bridge. Older persons and books. A River Diary: May 2013
http://ariverdiary.blogspot.com/2013_05_01_archive.html
Friday, May 31, 2013. Moment of peace and quiet. After breakfast at Ralph and Sons' Diner on Carling Avenue I had the best part of an hour to kill, so drove to the nearby riverside park by the Nepean Sailing Club. Marina in Dick Bell Park, where I sat on a bench in the shade (it was already very hot), gazing upstream into the misty distance. What a pleasant way to start the day! Welcome to this prestigious Crystal Bay/Rocky Point location surrounded by million dollar waterfront properties. Seagulls and d...

A River Diary: October 2013
http://ariverdiary.blogspot.com/2013_10_01_archive.html
Thursday, October 31, 2013. Fresh air before the rain. After an early breakfast on Carling Avenue I had time for a short walk in Dick Bell Park. Despite the nasty weather, a large group of very dedicated volunteers were on hand this past Saturday to help haul about 85 boats. Tow-boat drivers, Radio-jockeys, Dock Crews, Shore Crews, Safety staff, Cradle placement teams, Layout planners [.] All in all, nearly 100 volunteers on hand in cold and wet conditions. We live in a kingdom of rains: June 2006
http://kingdomofrains.blogspot.com/2006_06_01_archive.html
We live in a kingdom of rains. Thursday, June 29, 2006. Next year, new name: Fawlty Towers in the Jungle. Tell your friends. There's only one street, so it wasn't easy to miss people. The main thing that he pointed out in his conversation about how things have changed is that now most children go to and from school by motorcycle. This is true; every day the little fleet set off in the morning and returned in the evening. Now I know exactly where to go if I want someone to mend ANYTHING I own that's broken.

We live in a kingdom of rains. Thursday, February 03, 2011. Her course was true, for he was an able seaman through and through . In a recent blog entry. Singing Madrigals", my sister-in-law (Alison Hobbs) mentions the double-entendres. Sometimes to be found in madrigals. Our current usage of the expression double-entendre. Tends to be a derogatory one, often applied to short, smutty sexual allusions of the: If I said you have a beautiful body, would you hold it against me? The story line runs: a sailor t...

Strange Telephone Call | Software Musings
https://cwlh.wordpress.com/2011/03/17/strange-telephone-call
I’m puzzled. I’ve just had a telephone call purporting to come from the Conservative Party of Canada. I was asked whether I would vote for Mr Harper (the current leader of the Conservative Party and colleague of Bruce Carson who is currently under investigation by the RCMP for influence peddling) as Prime Minister. Presumably, this was in the event that an election were to be called. 2 Responses to "Strange Telephone Call". I like Harper… is this software related? Leave a Reply Cancel reply. You are comm...

We live in a kingdom of rains: Molly Whuppie 5
http://kingdomofrains.blogspot.com/2011/02/molly-whuppie-5.html
We live in a kingdom of rains. Tuesday, February 15, 2011. It was a long while before Molly's sisters said anything, and when they did it was to complain. Where are we going, Molly? We're lost aren't we! All three girls were soaked to the skin now, from pushing through the deep snow, and they were hungry, too, but Molly wasn't ready to stop. You're right, I don't know where we're going, but we're no more lost than we were when we woke up this morning," said Molly. Just a short rest, then," said Molly.
