Alison's TREK experience

Here I am at a park in Phuket with a great view. Wednesday, June 8, 2011. Well what can I say? I can't believe it! Seven months seems like a long time in another country but it goes so fast at the same time. Right now we are focused on goodbye parties, gifts, and getting in those last hang outs and fun Thailand things. I am getting less prepared to leave as the weeks go on. Kind of backwards isn't it? Here is a recap:. Our Thai worker Bia helping with craft. Bryan teaching them a thing or two about hockey.

Alison's TREK experience: May 2011

http://www.alisontrek.blogspot.com/2011_05_01_archive.html

Here I am at a park in Phuket with a great view. Thursday, May 5, 2011. Season's change but God stays the same. Of all the months I have been here, April has been the most unique. Due to different activities and holidays, our team did a lot of things independently and our schedule looked a lot different. These boys got right into. We had a lot of fun on the last. Day because it was water fun day! We finished the week with a dunk. Very fun. All the leaders had. Their turn and the kids loved it! The next w...

Here I am at a park in Phuket with a great view. Saturday, January 29, 2011. Well, it is a new year, and January has already zipped past me. I have a feeling that time will be moving at super speed from now on. Time to bring you up to speed. So far this month most of our ministries have remained the same with a couple of new additions. I have started a baking class! Dtuk teaching me how to cook Thai. Next month we have a retreat coming up and many other fun events planned. Never a dull moment! View my co...

Under Open Skies: April 2011

http://underopenskies2.blogspot.com/2011_04_01_archive.html

Travelling abroad and adventuring with God. Thursday, April 28, 2011. Picnic at the Park. This past Monday was a national holiday for the Portuguese. 25 de Abril is a day where Portugal celebrates the Revolution in 1974, so due to everyone being off of work that day, our church in Loures decided it would be the perfect day for a picnic. Teaching the Youth how to play Baseball. Can you tell I was the "white sheep" on my team? Haha Our team won the game though, so that was awesome. Sunday, April 24, 2011.

Under Open Skies: December 2010

http://underopenskies2.blogspot.com/2010_12_01_archive.html

Travelling abroad and adventuring with God. Monday, December 27, 2010. With all that I felt I missed at home, I don't think I would trade it for my Christmas here in Portugal. This was a memorable Christmas. On the Eve of Christmas Eve, us Trekkers were spoiled by Doug and Myra. We thought we were showing up for a nice dinner with them, but instead we were surprised by a little Christmas dinner of Enchiladas, pumpkin roll and stockings! The lovely and always sweet, Doug and Myra. Us girls and Rosemary.

Travelling abroad and adventuring with God. Monday, February 28, 2011. Nothing Profound, Just Life. The vision team has departed as of Saturday. We enjoyed a really good week with them - getting to know them, showing them Portugal and being encouraged by them. Despite the good week we enjoyed with them, we were all pretty tired by the end of it. But, I would do it again in a heartbeat. I pray that from his glorious, unlimited resources, he will give you mighty inner strength through his Holy Spirit. ...

Under Open Skies: Canadian Soil

http://underopenskies2.blogspot.com/2011/06/canadian-soil.html

Travelling abroad and adventuring with God. Tuesday, June 14, 2011. After a long 24 hour day of travel, I am happy to report that Team Portugal is back on Canadian soil. All of our luggage arrived safe and sound, including our very smelly baclahau :) It's good to be back here in Abbotsford, back at the Mark Centre. Oh how I missed these amazing beds! My sleeping schedule is a bit off, but hopefully that corrects itself over the next few days. More posts coming soon - I'm working on a couple!

Under Open Skies: March 2011

http://underopenskies2.blogspot.com/2011_03_01_archive.html

Travelling abroad and adventuring with God. Wednesday, March 30, 2011. T is 2am right now and I cannot sleep. My roommates are sound asleep and I have to admit I am jealous. So, in my sleepless state, I thought I would do some writing and share what has been on my heart as of late. If you are being obedient, you will find yourself in situations where you feel humanly inadequate of achievement. We are not living in the Spirit if we can manage everything.". And actually, these pictures were taken once we had done a little bit of primary work like taking out some concrete and washing the floors, but these were the beginning stages. Under Open Skies: Our Last Week in Portugal

http://underopenskies2.blogspot.com/2011/06/our-last-week-in-portugal.html

Travelling abroad and adventuring with God. Monday, June 6, 2011. Our Last Week in Portugal. We will also be spending a good chunk of time finishing up work projects, namely the Annexo renos and soaking up time with people we have come to love while being here. Last week, we occupied our time with a lot of these same things as well. The animals I drew were the giraffes, the hippos, the middle lion and the pigs. After we stepped back and admired our beautiful handiwork, we took a big bite of humble pie :).

I was beginning to wonder if it would ever come. I think that happens to me every year—at least when we’ve had a long, cold winter. What if you could learn to speak every language ever spoken all at once? What would it be like to be able to communicate in such a way as to transcend culture and vocabulary? What if everywhere you went, you had the ability to connect with everyone, in a unique and powerful manner? Music enables musicians to connect with and touch the lives of others. For many people, music is a wonderful way for an individual to connect simply with his or her self. You have a voice. It is beautiful, unique, and important.
