Peru 2009

Saturday, 20 February 2010. Hi, just for your information. Plans have changed for this weekend. I was due to go to Tarata tomorrow (Sunday) but when I phoned to confirm the Pastor and his wife have suggested I postpone the visit to next week. There’s a carnival on in Tarata tomorrow and they are worried about the number of drunk drivers known to drive on that road on these dates. Thursday, 18 February 2010. Hi, just a wee note to keep you up to date. I arrived back down to Tacna yesterday and now am prep...

Peru 2009: June 2009

http://alistaircreelman.blogspot.com/2009_06_01_archive.html

Friday, 26 June 2009. Hi The following blog is a mixture of a little bit of news and then a reflection on a few different things that I have encountered over the past few months but never had an opportunity to include them here. Some are funny and some are reflections of a serious (as supposed to funny) nature. The following are some pictures taken over the past few months which I thought I would share with you for different reasons. I took the next pair of photos in Mollendo when the team and I visited&...

Peru 2009: December 2009

http://alistaircreelman.blogspot.com/2009_12_01_archive.html

Tuesday, 22 December 2009. Hi I decided to write the following as a separate post, simply because the previous was getting too long, and this is really about a different topic. It even had its own cemetry which is no longer used, behind the doors in the distance in this picture. There still exist a small number of nuns in a little section of the citadel, but the rest has been opened up as a tourist attraction. They live behind these doors. I think it’s because it allows us to get a balanced represe...

Peru 2009: April 2009

http://alistaircreelman.blogspot.com/2009_04_01_archive.html

Thursday, 30 April 2009. Another note to let you know how the rest of the Puno trip went. The rest of our time with the 'Alianza Cristiana y Misionera' Church went well. We attended the Sunday morning service and then took the last campaign night that evening. I spoke on the Resurrection, the topic the pastor had selected beforehand for that night. There was a good attendance at the meeting with some staying after to speak with the pastor. Monday, 20 April 2009. We even played some games with them. Photo...

Peru 2009: Family Camp 2010

http://alistaircreelman.blogspot.com/2010/02/family-camp-2010.html

Wednesday, 3 February 2010. Hi, the third and last week of camps was the family camps. Again numbers were up on last year. One family of 8 relatives last year returned this year with 15. There were families from Moquegua, Tacna, Ilo, Puno and Arequipa. In fact one family from Tacna came chiefly because their children had enjoyed the two previous camps so much that on returning home had convinced their parents to come to this camp. Peru 2009: Towards the End

http://alistaircreelman.blogspot.com/2010/02/towards-end.html

Thursday, 18 February 2010. Hi, just a wee note to keep you up to date. I had a good trip to Lima. I was able to meet up with missionaries there, visit a seminary and catch up with a few friends including Rino and Santiago who had been the speakers at the Young Adults camp. I managed to see around Lima a bit and also buy too many presents. The rest of the next two weeks will be full of packing, visiting people to say goodbye and preparing to leave. Pray that God would also undertake in all of that.

We traveled down to Frankenmuth Michigan in August and stayed at the Bavarian Inn. Think of a cross between Chuck-E-Cheese and a Bavarian village and that was where we stayed. Great if you have kids. Less great if you don’t. But we have two so it was perfect! One of the things we did was go to a petting farm – Luke loved it! Though the sheep was a bit scary.:. But Luke warmed up pretty quickly:. Luke enjoyed seeing the “buck bucks”:. But his favourite was the duck (he still talks about it):. First Charlo...

http://irelandtoperu.blogspot.com/2011_02_01_archive.html

Tuesday, 22 February 2011. Ecclesiastes is one of my favoutire books, it gives us a picture of what life is like without God and tells us without God,. Meaningless, Meaningless, utterly meaningless, everything is meaningless". Kids club in Ilo) (me helping with the quiz) (kids loving MR getting water poured in their face). Ecclesiatses tells us there is a time for everything. There is a time for everything,. And a season for every activity under the heavens:. A time to be born and a time to die,. For me,...

We had the oppurtunity to return to the Andes with the Baptist Womens team. (A team of 8 women - who were very loud! It was brilliant being able to return to the churches where we did the kids sunday school project (before Christmas). Some of the pastors gave us an insight to the work of previous missionaries over the years. Posted by Peru Team 10/11.

Friday, 26 March 2010. An Amazing Journey . around the Auditorium! We have been preparing for the Amazing Journey. All week we have been walking around the auditorium preparing and thinking through the display. The Amazing Journey is an exhibition which eplains the entire message of the Bible in around 45 minutes. It´s incredible! Please pray for these packs that they´d be exciting and fun and full of good teaching to reinforce the story of the Bible. Posted by Peru Team 10/11. Friday, 19 March 2010.

Thursday, 20 May 2010. The team is now complete again with Lynne and Shirley coming back to the campsite last Sunday although we´re having a hard time keeping Lynne on the ground and controlling her random sprays of web! Ilo went really well. We did not realise that we had to go until a few days beforehand but we were able to take the women´s meeting, the youth meeting, a kids club, the church service and get into two primary school classes. Thanks for all your prayers. Posted by Peru Team 10/11. The fir...

6000 miles away: and the campsite is full again

http://irelandtoperu.blogspot.com/2011/04/and-campsite-is-full-again.html

Friday, 29 April 2011. And the campsite is full again. This weekend the campsite will be full of high schollers. Its the first time that a high school has made use of the campsite for a camp, so please pray that everything runs smoothly and that God will give many opportunities during this weekend to witness to the kids and teachers, many of which will not have had contact with christians. The team are organising games and helping out in the kitchen so plenty to keep them busy. Posted by Peru Team 10/11.
