The high and low tides of living on the north coast. September 29, 2006. 8212; elsecarolina @ 3:03 pm. As I begin to anticipate my visit to Vancouver next week, several thoughts take flight. But then, at the same time they ban most “moisture products”. That means my trip is suddenly more expensive again because I can’t bring and shampoo, moisturizer, water etc. This aggravates me to no end. Thanks goodness I found a much better article than my rambling rant against airport security. I flew from SFO to LA...

The high and low tides of living on the north coast. Ode to the washing machine. November 14, 2006. 8212; elsecarolina @ 4:29 am. Today marks a passing through of a threshold. I’m am listening to the sounds of my first load of laundry by a new washing machine that I bought from the Sears outlet store. Truly phenomenal. Truly thirty. But let me back up a couple of months. But that’s where the catch lies: Laundry room, no washer or dryer. To be honest, I didn’t call a single person. Last time Craig was in ...

The high and low tides of living on the north coast. Cat burglar – chapter 2. October 27, 2006. 8212; elsecarolina @ 5:39 pm. Cats are too smart. This morning I encountered another cat inside the house. This one a far less agile black cat. He tried to jump out the window 3 times – in his panic, hitting the wall instead. But he left something in his wake. One very soggy, but unmistakeable catnip sachet. Is the black cat a local Robin Hood of the feline world? October 26, 2006. 8212; elsecarolina @ 7:53 pm.

And isn’t it serendipitous it should be the exact same day my future-hubby is expected to arrive; to begin his first year in Rupert? Leave a Reply Cancel reply. Enter your comment here. The high and low tides of living on the north coast. The soundtrack of my life (on random). May 13, 2007. 8212; elsecarolina @ 2:02 am. Okay, this has the potential to be embarrassing. How to do it:. 1 Open your library (iTunes, Winamp, Media Player, Rhythmbox, iPod, etc). 2 Put it on Shuffle. 4 For every question, type the song that’s playing. 5 When you go to a new question, press the next button. 8220;The World is Showing Its Hand” by Jonathan Richman. The high and low tides of living on the north coast. December 16, 2006. 8212; elsecarolina @ 1:31 am. Perhaps it’s a crass assumption for me to make … but Hanukkah just doesn’t seem to matter here in the North. It’s that or the media has tired of it. We did a story on Diwali (Hindu and Sikh Festival of Lights) … but Hanukkah? Just a sidebar to the Christian season of giving? It troubles me. Are there other reasons why Hanukkah seems so neglected? Or am I simply not hanging out with the right crowd? 8212;...

The high and low tides of living on the north coast. February 22, 2007. 8212; elsecarolina @ 4:53 am. Have I ever mentioned how much I detest starlings? As a very amateur bird enthusiast, I know just how devastating these devils with wings are to native species. They eat the eggs of other birds! Need I say more. You can imagine my chagrin … and heart-pounding surprise … when I caught sight of a starling in my drapes this evening! 1 Call boyfriend for moral support. 3 Remove troublesome window apparatuses...

The high and low tides of living on the north coast. January 22, 2007. 8212; elsecarolina @ 1:51 am. I’ve been taking an unofficial poll of this winter’s windy season. So far I have heard from close to a dozen people that this is the windiest winter they’ve seen in their 30, 20, 12, or 2 years in Rupert. The driving rain was enough to make me curse out loud on top of a particularly exposed hill. I took shelter temporarily in the library and almost cried. Seriously. I finally enrolled in a yoga class to s...
