December 11, 2015 /. Post-Christmas Sales, a Temporal Discount. Every year people buy their friends and relatives gifts for Christmas, and every year there are large sales on after Boxing Day. The sensible action would be to delay buying presents until after the 25th so that they can all be bought cheaply. However nobody does this, and I think there are several reasons why. What I find an even more interesting idea is to consider the giving of gifts on Christmas Day as a form of Temporal Discounting.
