November 2011 Ice Storm. March 13, 2015. Winter weather in Alleghany County can change in a matter of hours. One of the local sayings is “If you don’t like the weather, wait awhile.” This storm caused numerous tree damage. I stood outside my gallery. And listened to trees and limbs breaking. People had to cut their way through downed trees. This photo was taken on Cherry Lane Road and Rash Rd near the Blue Ridge Parkway about an elevation of 3100 feet. Rainbow Over Roaring Gap. Thuis kan ik niet zo ver kijken, maar eindelijk op pad schoven de mooiste wolken formaties aan mij voorbij. Bij blauw doen witte wolken het heel mooi, maar als er een bui aankomt, zoek je wel even een plek om te schuilen zoals bij Eemnes. De route ging de vlakte op zonder schuilmogelijkheid. Toch maar even teruggefietst en onder de overkapping van een schuur de bui voorbij laten trekken. Toch maar even terug.
