All I know is this...: A lesson on life...from Cha Cha

Monday, May 11, 2009. A lesson on life.from Cha Cha. Yes, you may start most things by following the social norms.because it is what is expected. Following the rules can sometimes get you exactly what it is that your heart desires. Like ice cream with blue sprinkles, eaten politely with a spoon and a dignified pinky in the air. Life very often tastes better when it's a little messy. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Los Angeles, CA, United States. View my complete profile. Confessions of the Carlsons.

Tuesday, March 31, 2009. Ode to L.A.: The Cool Girls. I read once that wherever you may be, it is your friends that make your world. And that means that Larry, Curly and Moe here make my world in L.A. Actually, their names are LO, WetHead and Blondie…or Adriann, Stacy and Ashley. And even though Ashley now calls Chicago home, she’s still my L.A. lady. You have to love a city that gives you such loveable friends. I love you, L.A. (when I’m not loathing you, that is.). Ode to L.A. Monday, March 30, 2009.

Dining On Deals: April 2009
http://diningondeals.blogspot.com/2009_04_01_archive.html
Sunday, April 26, 2009. The Grilled Cheese Invitational. By the time the gates opened at noon the line stretched all the way around the park and back! As we judges began milling around the fenced in park, the excitement level was so high I overheard one girl exclaim, "This is going to be the best day of my life! The Reverend actually went so far as to suggest that the answer to all of our nations woes might be found in a Grilled Cheese Sammich, reminding us that we were presently surrounded by 1.75 b...

Sunday, January 15, 2012. Over the River and Through The Woods, To Find A Great Deal at Pickity! At the end of a rutted dirt road, deep in the forest of Mason, New Hampshire, there lies an enchanted cottage with the best deal I have yet found in my travels. Pickity Place only serves lunch, and you must come at one of their scheduled seating times (11:30, 12:45, or 2), but this is a meal well worth the trip! For $16.95 they serve a five course luncheon including their yummy drinks. Upon being seated, they...

Dining On Deals: Appetite Stimulus Menu at Katana

Saturday, December 10, 2011. Appetite Stimulus Menu at Katana. After waiting for about ten minutes (with a reservation) we were escorted back to the surprisingly empty dining area. What were we waiting for? The room is a study in what Americans think "Asian Decor" looks like: Lots of dark wood with embroidered silk cushions and small smooth pebbles where you can rest your chopsticks. A fun place for a date night. Then came the Robata. We ended with the rich Chocolate Volcano. This tiny cake packed a ...

Dining On Deals: Soup Kitchen Wednesday at Campanile - All Bark With Very Little Bite

Saturday, July 16, 2011. Soup Kitchen Wednesday at Campanile - All Bark With Very Little Bite. As soon as we sat down they brought a bread basket and butter. Hurrah! Next came the Pappardelle with Wild Mushrooms and Garbanzo Beans. I opted for pasta since I don't like fish and we're currently on the poultry section of my cooking school, so with all the leftovers I eat a lot of chicken these days. But my dining companions both got the Halibut and assured me it was delicious. The pasta was good, but not gr...

Dining On Deals: June 2009

Friday, June 26, 2009. Smith's NYC - Value in the City. My cousin and I had come for the Spring Chicken Dinner. On Monday and Tuesday nights, Smith's NYC offers a three course meal for two people for $35 total. Given that this is New York, where everything is almost always more expensive than it is in LA, $17.50 a person sounded pretty amazing. The roasted veggies were served in what looked like a mini dutch oven. (I wanted to steal all the serving dishes to do my own cooking for two! The potatoes, onion...
