Penny for MyThoughts: Last Day on the Job
http://allisoninternsi.blogspot.com/2010/08/last-day-on-job.html
My summer interning with the Smithsonian's National Museum of American History's Numismatic Department. Sunday, August 1, 2010. Last Day on the Job. Friday marked my last day at my internship and I have to say I am sad to leave. At the end of my internship I am amazed by how much I have learned in the mere two months I had been there. Working in a professional environment also taught me to be assertive and tactful. I had to communicate my ideas on a daily basis and had to be confident in them. I ...Overa...

My summer interning with the Smithsonian's National Museum of American History's Numismatic Department. Tuesday, July 27, 2010. Liberty, Letting Her Hair Down. Some also felt that the reverse, which featured chains, was instead a representation for slavery. After two months the design was discarded and the Mint instructed for a new design to be created. 1793 "Flowing Hair" Liberty cent, reverse chain design (Image from Wikipedia.org). 1793 "Flowing Hair" Liberty cent, reverse wreath design (Image from.

My summer interning with the Smithsonian's National Museum of American History's Numismatic Department. Thursday, July 8, 2010. The Quarter Dollar: Exposed! Today I was talking with one of my coworkers about her favorite coins. After looking through some trays of coins we stumbled upon the Standing Liberty Quarter Dollars and she told me it's story. Penny for MyThoughts: June 2010
http://allisoninternsi.blogspot.com/2010_06_01_archive.html
My summer interning with the Smithsonian's National Museum of American History's Numismatic Department. Tuesday, June 29, 2010. If you are in DC from now until July 4th, you should definitely check out the Smithsonian's Folklife Festival. Another feature of the Folklife Festival is Smithsonian: Inside Out. The theme of this past week at the Smithsonian's Numismatic Department has been to narrow down the title of our upcoming traveling exhibition. For two days myself and the other interns went down to...
Penny for MyThoughts: Mind Your Business!
http://allisoninternsi.blogspot.com/2010/07/mind-your-business.html
My summer interning with the Smithsonian's National Museum of American History's Numismatic Department. Thursday, July 22, 2010. Since this is my last week at my internship, I decided to feature some of my favorite coins every day. Today's coin is what has become known as the "Fugio Cent." This coin was designed by Benjamin Franklin in 1787 after the Continental Congress passed a contract for the "coining of a national copper cent.". That means "Time flies, do your work.". This coin has become one of my ...

Allison's Thailand Blog. If you give me a fish. May 14, 2011, 10:56 am. If you give me a fish, you’ve fed me for a day. If you teach me to fish, you’ve fed me until the river is contaminated or the shoreline seized for development. But if you teach me to organize, I can join together with my peers and we can fashion our own solution! Or come with me to New Orleans on June 21st to experience it firsthand! What can be done? But this is rarely the case. What do people especially the low-income, low-reso...

Happy 2nd Birthday to our sweet, sweet Stella - our bites-into-lemons, jumps-off-the-diving-board, donkey-kicking, giggling, beautiful niece. We love you! July 15, 2013. Washed down with a chilled ros é. It was a perfect summer meal, dishes notwithstanding. Some ...
Allison Int-Hout
A little about me…. I said “adios” to the University of Washington in Seattle last spring after receiving a degree in journalism and Spanish. Now, I spend my weekdays as a campaign manager at an online marketing company and my off-time doing the things I love most: baking, riding my bike, crocheting and taking road trips. Most of my professional experience has occurred within the field of journalism, having spent last summer as a reporting intern at the Puget Sound Business Journal.
