Saturday, August 20, 2011. Mosquito Larvae and Adults. Our school year is in full swing now. (I'll post our "first day" pics sometime.) We started out our nature studies this year with mosquitos. For some of our nature study we're following the Outdoor Hour Blog. There's some really great resources on that site. We captured some larvae (and a pupa, though we didn't know it at the time) and an adult at my parents' house. We stuck the adult in the fridge to let her go to sleep so we could look at her.

There's so many times when I'm trying to get from one side of town to the other and I often think, "If only I could teleport! And whoever it is is one grumpy pot. Sunday, November 15, 2009. My baby turned 2 last week. Over the past 9 months or so she has developed an adoration for Minnie Mouse. Since grandparents were apprised of this information, little miss had an entire Minnie Mouse night! As always, I made the birthday cake. I used a buttercream icing and should have used shortening instead of butter since the slope was so steep. I also didn't have much luck in trying to mix colors. She had a blast all the same! Thursday, December 9, 2010. Emelye has recently gotten into riddle-telling. She hasn't quite caught on to how they work, though. She and Josh regularly "quiz" each other, making up their own riddles. Feeling a little insecure about his new surroundings, he quickly found some safety in a coop that we no longer use. (He's used to being in one at his home.) It was totally empty when we were there (and I was so thankful because I was afraid a busload of schoolkids might be there). So, my kids literally had the "run" of the place.and oh, did they run! Anytime my kids find any relatively wide open space then they go nuts running around. So hard to get pictures! 1 cup sour cream.

I'm so thankful for the Internet! I borrowed ideas here and there for games, food, etc., and I think it turned out to be a fantastic party. It was fun to plan and even more fun to see the kids so excited and happy. We had it at the Ada Wright Center in Manchester. I'm so glad we didn't have it at our house!
