Trudge: August 2014
http://shloggers.blogspot.com/2014_08_01_archive.html
Adventures of a hiker "crawl the uphills, walk the flats and shuffle the downhills". Monday, August 25, 2014. What a great loop in the beautiful Sawtooth Mountains. The last 2 years there's been a hiccup in the gittyup so I'm happy I was finally able to check this one off the bucket list. This could be done in 15 hrs if the weather cooperates for you. Clear and sunny Sawtooth Lake. Trail above Cramer lakes. View from Trail Creek. For sharing the sweet campsite and letting me study your map.

Linda's Lens: Hardy Ridge Friday
https://photomomlinda.blogspot.com/2015/05/hardy-ridge-friday.html
Wednesday, May 20, 2015. I love it when John sends a hike invitation that coincides with my Friday off. The gang's all here! Wanting to take advantage of this sunny April day, John chose a trail that promised big views - Hardy Ridge, on the Washington side of the Columbia River Gorge. I'd hiked Hardy Ridge for the first time last June. John gets up close and personal with a flower. UPF (unidentified purple flower). There were other flowers blooming, equally as pretty, but we had no idea of their names.

May 25, 2014. Search and archives are over there –. If you’re familiar with the etymology of meme. You’ll know that it was coined to describe a collective, cultural phenomenon and has nothing to do with the individual. However, I always get a chuckle out of seeing the word because in my mind it parses as “me, me,” a fitting thought for an activity that usually gives you a chance to talk about yourself. Cesar of Cesar and the Woods. 1 What is your favorite flower and why? 2 Do you have any tattoos? Yes, t...

Monday, August 31, 2015. Return to Wahclella Falls. Wahclella Falls is my go-to waterfall. Located in the Columbia River Gorge, it's a short drive and an even shorter hike along lovely Tanner Creek to access this silky little beauty. Bridge and waterfall (from top of an adjacent boulder). Yep, it's a good "bang for your buck" hike. And in early July, still nursing a healing foot, it fit the bill for easing myself back into hiking. From the log, I then had about a 15 foot climb up the face of this boulder...

Linda's Lens: Those Pesky Pins....
https://photomomlinda.blogspot.com/2015/06/those-pesky-pins.html
Wednesday, June 24, 2015. Sometimes life throws you a curve ball. X-ray of my right foot. But two weekends ago, things started to go south. After running 4.5 miles on Saturday, and hiking 5 on Sunday, my foot was swollen and sore. A tender, tiny bump appeared over my big toe joint. Was that the head of a pin? Of course, what did I do? My doc is wonderful. She worked me in to her surgery schedule right away. After last Thursday those pesky pins were history. Back in the boot.again. June 24, 2015 at 2:33 PM.

Saturday, June 28, 2014. Surprises on Hardy Ridge. Hardy Ridge wasn't my first choice for a hike. The tiger lilies were out! After a group excursion to Ramona Falls was cancelled at the last minute, I was hankering to go there. My friend Katie and I made plans to visit this trail the following Saturday. But then my car ended up in the shop with transmission problems (don't even get me started on how much that. These water drops looked like diamonds. The tiger lilies were abundant. At the trailhead parkin...

Saturday, November 5, 2011. Hiking Light at the Painted Hills. Hikers know all about traveling light. Borrowed Times: January 2013

Friday, January 25, 2013. It’s definitely my favorite waterfall in the gorge. The entire encounter only lasted about five seconds, and was the highlight of the hike. I see deer quite frequently, elk occasionally, but this was only my third coyote, and each time it’s been a memorable and moving experience. And at this point, the symmetry between the hikes was complete and utterly fitting, as though designed. Tamanawas Falls, a place of spirits where I saw Coyote on my last hike of 2012.
