A Beautiful Mess

Wednesday, April 3, 2013. My best friend told me her pastor talked about how we give up and sacrifice for 40 days before Easter with the practice of Lent and then we spend one day celebrating. What if we celebrated a little bit longer.like everyday? I want to invite you, friend, to a new place where I will continue to write about my journey and the ways Jesus shows himself in the everyday messiness of our lives. In the beginning of the year the verse Psalm 104:33 was illuminated for me. It says this:.

A Beautiful Mess: March 2013

http://allisonschrader.blogspot.com/2013_03_01_archive.html

Thursday, March 21, 2013. Requiem for a Dream. The Little Man and I went for a walk last night. The Bug needed a Daddy Date so she and The Fly went for ice cream. I needed fresh air. So we went for a walk. I ran into Rosalyn. She is a neighbor a few blocks up. Her daughter was in a class I taught. We chatted. She called me, “passionate.” She said I seemed to be, “passionate,” about what I was doing. My 21 year old self playing a 12 year old Mary Lennox in The Secret Garden. I had big dreams. So one day a...

A Beautiful Mess: Resolve

http://allisonschrader.blogspot.com/2013/01/resolve.html

Monday, January 21, 2013. It’s 21 days into the new year and I want to write. For fifteen minutes every night,. I want to write. I want to get better at getting the thoughts that race through my mind during the day onto paper…or the screen. I am beginning to see Him everywhere. Some days I find that the desire to tell my story, His story, overwhelms me. The Uncle and the Bug. "Tend-Pre" dinner. I don't want to let this one slip. It's too precious. Grace is a huge word in my vocabulary. So here we go.

A Beautiful Mess: Memorize

http://allisonschrader.blogspot.com/2013/01/memorize.html

Thursday, January 31, 2013. I am memorizing more this year. I was inspired by three best friends and the “Siestas” over at the LPM blog. Um, I love Beth Moore. I have learned so much from her. Sometimes I think we are really friends. I also think that Monica, Rachel, Phoebe, Chandler, Ross and Joey are my friends too. Sometimes I have a problem identifying reality…topic for another post, I guess.). Back to reality…. I have always had a knack for memorizing. I am a trained memorizer. It changed my mind, n...

A Beautiful Mess: My Lent Project

http://allisonschrader.blogspot.com/2013/02/my-lent-project.html

Friday, February 15, 2013. Getting ready for Valentine's Day. It’s been three days since lent began. I remember, clearly, for four years of high school, walking the giant flight of stairs to the gym. In dress uniform, the girls climbed to what felt as far as heaven, to gather for Mass. One at a time we would be marked. A cross on our foreheads. Ashes A sign of repentance. A reminder to turn toward Jesus. I wish I would have understood that then. What if I knew then what I know now? So I searched my heart.

A Beautiful Mess: Crying Out

http://allisonschrader.blogspot.com/2011/12/crying-out.html

Saturday, December 3, 2011. Sweet baby kisses.it doesn't get any better than this. Sniff, sniff, sip. Sniff, sniff, sip. This is me right now. No, I'm not crying at this moment but I feel like I've been hit by a bus. It is with a bad head cold and a re-heated cup of coffee that I find myself typing this morning. Mommy and the Bug with our sick eyes.all four of us are sniffling. Christmas at Disneyland.LOVE IT. If you've read A Lesson from Amy. Well, this week brought me to my knees again. Not only is Lit...

living and learning: Full circle moments

http://alyssajoyg.blogspot.com/2013/03/full-circle-moments.html

A way to share the stories, joys, and challenges from our world. Tuesday, March 12, 2013. Every once in awhile God gives you those full-circle moments. Horrific pictures from our friends' home. But then I sensed the Lord bringing to mind the verse in 2 Corinthians 1:3;. Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion. And the God of all comfort. Who comforts us in all our troubles. We can comfort those in any trouble. Comfort we ourselves have received from God.". Joshu...

living and learning: August 2012

http://alyssajoyg.blogspot.com/2012_08_01_archive.html

A way to share the stories, joys, and challenges from our world. Thursday, August 23, 2012. And we've had to rely on God to provide our daily bread. We've learned to ask our community for help. And we've watched the body of Christ provide for our needs BEYOND what we could have imagined. Miracles every day. Different, but similar to what we saw in Africa. So it's a strange dichotomy that exists now.gratefully accepting stuff as provisions from God, but also learning to live with LESS stuff! And hopefully...

We Won’t Do Santa | Elevensies

https://elevensiesblog.wordpress.com/2013/12/12/we-wont-do-santa

Life with a boy who never misses a meal. We Won’t Do Santa. This entry was posted on December 12, 2013, in Uncategorized. Apparently it happened something like this:. My cousin learned that Santa wasn’t real at school one day. She came home with the usual reactions of disappointment and sadness. She heard from the most authoritative source–her parents–that no, Santa isn’t real. But even if he’s pretend, he can be a fun part of Christmas. 8220;Does this mean Jesus isn’t real, too? More than the North Pole...

Life with a boy who never misses a meal. What I Thought Pre Baby Was Wrong. Before I had a baby, I thought women with kids looked down on me for not having any. I thought things like ‘family dressing rooms’ were annoying. I glared at crying babies in places like restaurants. In my mind, the invisible conversation between parents and people without children revolved around judgment. As a new parent, … Continue reading →. Guest Blogger at The Junia Project. Life with a boy who never misses a meal. What I Haven’t Learned. This entry was posted on January 8, 2014, in Uncategorized. I have learned a lot in a year of parenting–how to diaper, how to get my kid to sleep, how to do so many things while in the middle of nursing. I also have not learned some things, even though it’s been a year. I have not learned the subculture of the park. Do I talk to people? Do I not talk to people? Do I just talk to kids who are right by my kid? I have not learned how to nurtur...

Life with a boy who never misses a meal. There’s a Baby in My Bed. This entry was posted on November 18, 2013, in Family. We didn’t mean to. It just sorta….happened. It was late, we were tired. You know how these things go. Lo and behold, I got to nap and Riley got to eat and I swear I nearly heard angels sing. But at 3 am there were no angels. Just me, awake, exhausted, and shivering. And that is how we became co sleepers. And you know what? It works for us. I am a light sleeper overall, and like I said...

http://alyssajoyg.blogspot.com/2013/01/fire-final-chapter.html

A way to share the stories, joys, and challenges from our world. Wednesday, January 23, 2013. Fire: the final chapter. Yesterday we did some work in the garden and pulled out some dead plants that were still there. The boys noticed how they still smelled like smoke. It was a strange reminder of the fire that happened almost six months ago. Joshua asked, "did that really happen? Sometimes it seems like it didn't.
