I’ll Be Brave On the Page – allison writes
https://allisonwrites.wordpress.com/2016/11/10/brave-on-the-page
Stories – Poetry – Random Musings. I’ll Be Brave On the Page. Photo credit Chris Wightman. I am the quintessential Trump supporter. I am a white, middle-aged, cisgender, straight woman. My husband is a white, middle-aged, cisgender, straight male. We live in a rural area. I attended college but do not hold a degree. My husband completed high school. The two of us are worse off than our parents were at our ages. They were worse off than their parents were before them. We earn too much to qualify for any a...

Stories – Poetry – Random Musings. My Mechanic’s Broken Thing. Photo by Allison Bedford. He patched and painted the ceiling in the dining room after I took a step in the attic without the knowlege that one must only step on the beams. One year, our Christmas tree just would not stay up. Until he screwed the stand to the floor. Right through the carpet. He has six children. Six times. Daddy, fix this. The number of toys each child has owned and/or touched and/or played with) plus. He fixed that, too.

Stories – Poetry – Random Musings. Author: Allison writes . . . Why We Still Need Feminists. We are not looking in our rear view mirror at rights that have made us equal for generations. Typing pool, circa 1950’s. (Photo: Wikipedia.com). I graduated high school in 1995, having never taken one elective class I’d really wanted to take. Every year I asked my mom, and every year she told me she would refuse to sign off on any schedule in which I tried to register for the class. My mom wasn’t having it. Sure,...

Stories – Poetry – Random Musings. History Repeats Itself, While I Can’t Even Look at the Pictures. History repeats itself. We’re told that pithy little phrase and I think too many of us never truly get to the heart of understanding. Image collage found here. I remember the first panic attack I had. I was driving home from work, listening to Howard Stern on satellite radio. I use the word driving. Loosely. This was New York during rush hour. I was inching home from work. She was screaming. The child&...

Newer posts →. 15AM000000122011 · 00:03. Well, not for another 6 minutes. I now have 4 hats for sale on Etsy, which is probably too many. But I like making them and it delays the time when I should try making another purse. Which involves measuring and cutting and sewing, all things not nearly as natural to me as crochet. This is actually good news because I will finally get to use something I learned in college. RESEARCH. Bollocks. Now it’s Friday. Filed under Misc Short Stories. Again, the differences ...

Declawing Cats →. 15AM00000012011 · 01:19. You Cannot Hate Yourself Thin. You cannot hate yourself thin. And I mean YOU, not the general you. Lots of people hate themselves thin. They have eating disorders, mental illnesses that distort how they view themselves to such an extreme that they torture themselves to reach an ideal that will never be achieved. They will die before their twisted standards can be attained. More accurately, no one can hate themselves. Whatever. Healthy is the opposite of Morb...

The Term You’re Forgetting is Soldier-Musician. You Cannot Hate Yourself Thin →. 15AM00000022011 · 02:11. I always hesitate to use that word, like it is a really awful racial slur. What if someone with depression hears me? Will they be offended? What if a normal person hears me? Will they hide all the sharp things? And once I got that focus, I felt grief and could sympathize with my Mom. I told my Mom that I would come home immediately if she wanted me to. She said, no there’s nothing I can do&...And whe...

Tuesday, May 12, 2015. What to do with Writing? I have this piece I wrote five years ago, and have been polishing ever since. I think it's really. Good I've let several people read it, and they think it's good. I've submitted it to a handful of journals and magazines, and gotten a handful of rejections. Rejection doesn't bother me. I've gotten them before. I've gotten them almost every time I've submitted something. What frustrates me in this case is not knowing where this piece should go. I want people ...

By a crazy man. Greymatters" theme by J.E.Jones. This is my little baby cousin and he is dressed as a smoke detector for Halloween. None of us know why but he is really obsessed with smoke detectors. That’s all he’s asked for in the way of presents these past two years. He calls them “snoke edectors”. Also he has a scrapbook of everyone in the family posing with their smoke detectors. The world is always spinning, but for some people, it stops. Brian takes the best pictures of me. Look as much as I do?
