words from a wastrel: December 2007

http://www.alliterati.blogspot.com/2007_12_01_archive.html

Words from a wastrel. Musings on my travels. Checkin' in from Chicago. Oh yeah - so the rental car is a Toyota Prius (see pics below with Tracie driving), and today I drove all day. What an awesome car! If anyone out there is dying to buy me a car, a Prius would definitely be the choice! After, we drove up Lakeshore to Sheridan and went to Evaston to show Ginny Northwestern University and the Baha'i Temple up there. Masterminded by Steven Deineh. The other day we went wine tasting in Michigan. We are hav...

Words from a wastrel. Musings on my travels. Is big and bustling and beautiful! Reminds me a lot of Mexico City and Havana for all the colonial architecture. I will post pics from a faster computer connection! My friends Sylvia and Dallas are from Arkansas, and Australia, respectively. I met them on the flight here. The dark-haired girl is Cecile from New York City, but living in Venezuela for a couple years. She teaches 2nd grade. Masterminded by Steven Deineh. It´s interesting that the park doesn&...

words from a wastrel: November 2008

http://www.alliterati.blogspot.com/2008_11_01_archive.html

Words from a wastrel. Musings on my travels. Week of Movies. apparently. I've seen a lot of movies this past week. Bill Maher's Religulous, The 2nd Bourne movie (whatever it's called), a Spanish film called Bear Cub ("Cachorro"), and last night, Slumdog Millionaire. I would definitely recommend the last one - it was a really cute, if, to borrow from one of the reviews I read, "gritty" love story. Masterminded by Steven Deineh. Okay first of all. WTF? Before seeing the new Gus Van Zant movie "Milk". T...

Words from a wastrel. Musings on my travels. It's been forever since I've posted. Just a quick update (sorry T! I'm busy working part-time at a couple community colleges. I am really enjoying this, and have increasingly more and more job duties (teaching courses, etc.). I also work a few hours a week at a public library. The public library is total chaos and two days are never alike. But it's fun and rewarding still. Masterminded by Steven Deineh. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). 4 Sept - 11 Sept - London, UK.

words from a wastrel: Over the Andes to Valparaiso, Chile - 8 hour bus ride

http://www.alliterati.blogspot.com/2010/01/over-andes-to-valparaiso-chile-8-hour.html

Words from a wastrel. Musings on my travels. Over the Andes to Valparaiso, Chile - 8 hour bus ride. 8 hours from Mendoza over the Andes to Valparaiso, on the coast, in Chile. One of these pics - the one where the peak is hidden in clouds, is Aconcagua. The highest peak in The Americas (including North America) with a summit at more than 23,000 feet. For comparison, Everest is 29,000 some odd feet in the air! Masterminded by Steven Deineh. January 13, 2010 at 4:14 PM. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

A YEAR WITHOUT TRADER JOE'S!!: WHAT'S AN AMERICAN TO DO?: September 2007

http://wannabegerman.blogspot.com/2007_09_01_archive.html

A YEAR WITHOUT TRADER JOE'S! WHAT'S AN AMERICAN TO DO? Highlights from my year abroad in Geisenheim, Germany. Sunday, September 16, 2007. Sept 3rd - 7th. That afternoon I took maturity samples from my vineyards and ran standard maturity analysis. With the exception of Brix, all the analysis is done by machine which is awesome. It doesn’t look like I’ll be doing any titrations anytime soon! I don’t think you can. Did I also mention it has a view of Ruedesheim and the Rhein? Oh ya, it has that too.

A YEAR WITHOUT TRADER JOE'S! WHAT'S AN AMERICAN TO DO? Highlights from my year abroad in Geisenheim, Germany. Monday, January 7, 2008. A few days after flying back to Germany after being in CA, Jonas too came back to Germany. His first stop was in Geisenheim to meet with Prof Schultz, but he ended up staying in town for about three days. After dinner we went back to the Kloster to get ready to go out to a student party. This was my first Geisenheim Party ever (about time, huh? Even though Geisenheim did ...

A YEAR WITHOUT TRADER JOE'S! WHAT'S AN AMERICAN TO DO? Highlights from my year abroad in Geisenheim, Germany. Monday, January 7, 2008. Crazy Frost, Christmas Markets, and Andi's Birthday. Crazy trees and bushes with frost, not snow! I'm actually very proud of how I'm dealing with the cold over here. Not bad for a CA boy. We spent that night at Andi's and then made our way to Jonas' house on the 24th for a Christmas never to be forgotten! With Tami and Christian in Ludwigsburg. Trying to be creative.

A YEAR WITHOUT TRADER JOE'S! WHAT'S AN AMERICAN TO DO? Highlights from my year abroad in Geisenheim, Germany. Saturday, July 28, 2007. I have made it to Germany and am having a great time with my Host family in Mainz. I must admit I am a bit Homesick, but that is natural right! My host family is taking great care of me. I could not have asked for anything better! I will try and update this when I have more time and a better internet connection. Perhaps sometime later this week. Wednesday, July 25, 2007.

A YEAR WITHOUT TRADER JOE'S! WHAT'S AN AMERICAN TO DO? Highlights from my year abroad in Geisenheim, Germany. Monday, January 7, 2008. The weekend before I flew home to celebrate Christmas with my family in CA, Kirsty and I decided to rendezvous in Strassbourg, France. As last minute as the trip was, Christian and Magali were able to join us for one day, which was great. After dinner Magali and Christian drove back to Germany. Awesome Astrological Clock in the Cathedral. The many canals of "Petite France".

As I promised, here is the link to the KQED program Quest and the episode about wine. http:/ www.kqed.org/quest/television/view/490. I’m really only in it for about 5 seconds, but its still neat, so check it out. You might even learn something about global warming and wine…Al Gore would be proud! The Secret Archives of the Alliterati

Monday, May 21, 2012. Friends, loyal countrymen/women, Alliteratus, lend me your ears. You may have noticed that we haven't updated in a while. In fact, on April 2nd I said to come back in two weeks. It's, uh, been a few more weeks than that, and we're not here. Nor will we be, for the foreseeable future, I'm afraid. You are witnessing the death of a blog. A much beloved, much belabored blog. It's become a chore. Plus, we kind of hate the word "blog". Or at least, I do. We still want to hang out and chat!
