We put our little car in the ferry queue and bought our tickets – 80 pounds return, including the car – not too bad at all! Skip to primary content. Scotland Part 1: Teviothead/Hawick. July 25, 2011. Ash, Jen and I left Jen’s folks in Birmingham just after lunchtime on Thursday the 14th of July. We had our mighty diesel Ford Focus packed to the rafters with supplies and poor Jen crammed in the back, map in hand. We set off for our first destination – Teviothead, which is just before the town of Hawick. Unfortunately we had our first lesson in Scottish midges. We were warned, but holy christ wagons, they WILL eat you alive!

Tuesday, May 17, 2011. Merrits United Church West Lincoln Ontario (in Two Parts). This brunch was attended in droves, upwards of a hundred souls squeezed into the basement being fed by volunteers and treated to a happy and talkative community of friends and family. It was excellent. S and other general niceties. This was the extended congregation of Merrit's United in full force, coming together to break bread in numbers that just never happen for a regular, or even holiday service. Is there a problem?
