A Breath Of French Air

A Breath Of French Air. Monday, April 21, 2014. Easter Carrot Project with Hummus Appetizer. I made this really cute appetizer for Easter brunch yesterday and snapped a few pictures as I was putting it together. For this project you need baby carrots, cilantro, toothpicks, Dixie cups, and clay pots (very small pots). I purchased the clay pots at Hobby Lobby, but I am sure you can pick them up almost anywhere. I used a flat basket to transport the pots in. I put all the pots (12) in the basket, along with...

A Breath Of French Air: Making Natural Body Wash From Scratch

http://allthingsetsy2222.blogspot.com/2013/11/making-natural-body-wash-from-scratch.html

A Breath Of French Air. Wednesday, November 20, 2013. Making Natural Body Wash From Scratch. There are many ways to make liquid soap, so I thought I would share how I made mine. First, I add the hard and soft oils to a large stainless steel pot. Make sure you are not using an aluminum pot. I can't remember how large this pot is, but I think it's a standard stock pot. After stick blending for a minute, the mixture looks like thick milk. Patience is the key! The mixture takes a long time to reach the next ...

A Breath Of French Air: Patchouli Orange Vanilla Handmade Soap

http://allthingsetsy2222.blogspot.com/2014/03/patchouli-orange-vanilla-handmade-soap.html

A Breath Of French Air. Wednesday, March 19, 2014. Patchouli Orange Vanilla Handmade Soap. Today I made one of my favorite scents, Patchouli Orange Vanilla! If you have not tried this combo, you MUST! I swear, it is addicting! I used beer for some of the liquid. For part of the soap I used organic cocoa powder for color and ground vanilla beans for exfoliation. The soap itself will not be too dark, so the cocoa powder will provide some contrast. Stay tuned for the cut soap pictures! March 21, 2014 at 10:...

A Breath Of French Air: I See Green!

http://allthingsetsy2222.blogspot.com/2014/03/i-see-green.html

A Breath Of French Air. Sunday, March 30, 2014. I peeked inside my under the bed storage bag, and I saw green! This solo plant is Bells of Ireland. I love this flower! You have to be careful when cutting a flower because there are tiny thorns on the stem, and they HURT! Bells of Ireland are annuals that reseed very well. The picture below are a few blanket flowers. They are a perennial that bloom their first year. Here is what the flowers will look like:. Stay tuned for more progress! Lime in the Coconut.

A Breath Of French Air: Winter Sowing 2014

http://allthingsetsy2222.blogspot.com/2014/03/winter-sowing-2014.html

A Breath Of French Air. Tuesday, March 11, 2014. I do believe this will be my 11th year winter sowing! I can't believe I have been doing this for so long, but I guess time goes by quickly. I started winter sowing my seeds in February. We had a few days in the 60's, so I took advantage of the "spring" air. I use both empty milk jugs and plastic pots for my seeds, but I will just show my milk jugs today. You don't have to use a soldering gun to make the holes, but it makes the job much easier. I put severa...

A Breath Of French Air: The Final Patchouli Orange Vanilla Soap!

http://allthingsetsy2222.blogspot.com/2014/03/the-final-patchouli-orange-vanilla-soap.html

A Breath Of French Air. Friday, March 21, 2014. The Final Patchouli Orange Vanilla Soap! The soap turned out great! The brown swirl will darken over the next few days due to the vanilla content. I love the ground vanilla beans in the dark swirl and on top! What do you think? I think it came out gorgeous! March 21, 2014 at 12:13 PM. March 21, 2014 at 12:16 PM. Iron Dog's Blog: November 2009

http://irondogmetalsmiths.blogspot.com/2009_11_01_archive.html

Tuesday, November 24, 2009. So, I've come to crossroads with my business. Actually, it's more of a self-imposed fork. or even a branch. It could be because I don't have time to list items and promote as much as I should, but I'm not seeing as much attention/sales in my Etsy shop as I would like to. So I've been trying to think of ways to bring more customers in. Alright, I should explain the REAL reason. Got time? So, without intending to, he basically talked me out of it. And the point of it is to get c...

Tuesday, December 22, 2009. Iron Dog was featured in a fellow Etsian's blog! Many thanks to The Ash Grove. Tuesday, December 8, 2009. Well, the largest craft show I participate in was this past weekend. Despite unexpected snow, there was a great turnout and I did fantastic! This has been my best show ever. Ever! I've done this specific show for 4 years now and this one was by far the best. I even got another visit from "The Harmonica Guy". He had visited my booth last year. He's an eccentric guy ...I wou...

Iron Dog's Blog: April 2010

http://irondogmetalsmiths.blogspot.com/2010_04_01_archive.html

Monday, April 12, 2010. Scented Times at Iron Dog. I talked with Rob about the whole incense thing. I wanted to know if it would drive him crazy. He said he wouldn't mind. He didn't give me the instant go-for-it attitude I was hoping for, but just because you hope for something doesn't mean you expect it. I've got a life and a full time job that come first. Which brings me to another question I need to address:. Do I offer only Made-To-Order incense where I do not begin making the incense until the order...

Iron Dog's Blog: A new venture?

http://irondogmetalsmiths.blogspot.com/2009/12/new-venture.html

Wednesday, December 2, 2009. Okay, so that new craft I was going to attempt. mentioned it in my last blog post. remember? Well, I bit the bullet and ordered a smattering of supplies. Smattering. What a word. It doesn't sound very pleasant. Kind of like a combination of "smelly" and "splattering". Like diarrhea. "Wow, after I ate that kung pao chicken, I experienced the worst smattering in recent times.". Okay, that's gross. I'm done digressing and I apologize for it. So yeah, keep an eye out for another ...

Iron Dog's Blog: July 2008

http://irondogmetalsmiths.blogspot.com/2008_07_01_archive.html

Friday, July 25, 2008. The woman that bought six of my items contacted me via email. Which I'm glad for, it's just much easier than the phone, mostly because if I don't recognize the number on the caller ID, I'll let the answering machine pick up. Anyway, she DOES want that necklace. Or at least she inquired about it and asked how much it would cost. We shall see. Oh yes, we shall. Wednesday, July 23, 2008. Lots of good news! And second. I made my first sale on Etsy today! So, I think my decision is to a...

Iron Dog's Blog: October 2009

http://irondogmetalsmiths.blogspot.com/2009_10_01_archive.html

Thursday, October 29, 2009. HBP - Final Product #1. Satin rattail cord, sterling silver chainmaille tassle. It turned out pretty darn close to what I had envisioned. I had thought to add some Swarovski crystals to accentuate the color in the glass, but once I got to this point, it seemed like they would have just seemed like an afterthought. Besides, considering the bead is the focal point, the color and sparkle of the crystals would have pulled attention away from it. I'm rather happy with it! It is obv...
