Thurl began his entertainment career on radio in the mid-1930s. He was on shows with some of the biggest stars of time including Jack Benny, Bing Crosby, and Edgar Bergen. Thurl worked with some of the biggest names in Hollywood, both in movies and on record. His singing career began in the 1930s and covered radio, films, television, and countless records. He worked as a member of many groups, sang backup for all sorts of singers, and even had a few solo recordings along the way. Thurl was a member of numerous singing groups, including the Sportsmen, the Mellomen, the Norman Luboff Choir, and the Johnny Mann Singers. He also recorded a few singles. Created and maintained by.

By the mid-1930s, Thurl was appearing regularly on radio, first on a show called the Goose Creek Parson. In the late 1930s, he moved on to the The Kraft Music Hall. A couple of the guys in the Paul Taylor Choristers, Bill Days and Max Smith, decided to form a quartet of their own which they called the Metropolitans. They later changed the name to the Sportsmen. Beginning in 1952, Thurl was the one and only voice of Tony. In 1966, Dr. Seuss and Chuck Jones teamed up to do How the Grinch Stole Christmas.
