San Blas, Nayarit, Mexico - Winter. Monday, November 21, 2011. Blog #3 The Best of Times, the worst. When I arrived Gustavo told me that he needed us to pay 10 000 pesos or two and a half months rent so he could finish the house. Now I ask you, do we look like a bank or bankers! We had already been ripped off 5 000 pesos by the owners of the purple house, asked by two others for months in advance and here it was happening again! To find Pizzapan go along the road out of town past Kane. Turn right at ...

San Blas, Nayarit, Mexico - Winter. Tuesday, December 13, 2011. Blog #6 Reflections on San Blas. The night before we left Rincon de Guayabitos for Puerto Vallarta, we had dinner at the Vista Guayabitos situated at the south end of town high on a hill. The food was wonderful. Instead of nacho type chips and salsa they gave us lobster sushi for a nibbler! I knew this was going to be a good night! Time to talk to the manager. The result - free breakfast. Not fair but something! That is not what happened to ...

San Blas, Nayarit, Mexico - Winter. Monday, March 22, 2010. Mondays start with taking the laundry to the nice lady who does our laundry. For the first three weeks I did all of our laundry by hand. Now you may ask why I did laundry. By hand and I would have to tell you, "I have no idea why I did it! I just did it! It costs us about 45 pesos a week for our personal laundry and the same for linens. That amounts to $3.75 Canadian! See my lovely bike? There are always lots of bicycles on the streets. Is know ...

San Blas, Nayarit, Mexico - Winter. Monday, January 31, 2011. Blog #5 Another Week in San Blas, Nayarit, Mexico. Every night this week there has been entertainment at the plaza or central square. This young fellow was part of the local talent night. You could just tell that he had performed many times infront of audiences and had a great stage presence. There were only three performers which was disappointing but they were all really good. Did you say you wanted a new curtain rod put up on the door?

San Blas, Nayarit, Mexico - Winter. Monday, February 28, 2011. Blog #9 from Puerto Vallarta. On Tuesday we headed off to Tequila with friends. The first part of our journey was to take a bus from San Blas to Tepic. Tepic is the capital of the state of Nayarit and has had considerable trouble in the last few months with you know who so they have set up these "Welcome Centres" to try to prevent the bad guys from getting in. Hmmmmm.Don't seem to be working so well! A couple of hours after the second class e...

San Blas, Nayarit, Mexico - Winter. Friday, December 2, 2011. Blog #4 "Know when to fold em, know when to walk away.". Our first day trip this year in San Blas was to Casa Manana. One of our favourite local spots on the beach south of town in Los Cocos with great food and margaritas! The bus station has really been improved this year with a fresh coat of paint and bathrooms you might like to use. Ray, can you smell fish? No, can you? Yeah and it gets real strong the closer I get to you! Here we are campi...

San Blas, Nayarit, Mexico - Winter. Saturday, April 3, 2010. The Last Post of Winter 2010. As I look back over the blog for Winter 2010, I can't help but notice that there are a few important features of San Blas. That you haven't been introduced to. The heart beat of the town is the main plaza or centro. There are constantly events going on here day and night. I know we miss a lot of them even though we only live a few blocks away. Connected to paying bills and fines. Finally, the new presidente. This i...
