Staycation Day 1 | The Almost Empty Nest
https://almostoldenough.wordpress.com/2011/06/24/staycation-day-1
The Almost Empty Nest. Stuck between two stages of life! By Tia Lisa Mallard. My staycation actually began Wednesday evening with a wonderful dinner meeting of the Blue Thong Society-Blue Hen Thongers. At Abbott’s Grill. The conversation was fun and the food (especially the softshell crab that I had) was fabulous. Thursday began with a few necessary errands and business emails and then it was off to the beach! And a cake pop treat at Cake Break. As the sun was starting to fade. Ocean City was the last de...

The Almost Empty Nest. Stuck between two stages of life! May Flowers….are still alive and well. By Tia Lisa Mallard. I used to have a green thumb. I used to grow plants and flowers and they were beautiful. I had a vegetable garden every summer and I always had lots of house plants. Two years ago my oldest daughter got married and my youngest child went away to college. And THIS is the variegated rosebush that I didn’t kill. And THIS is the lavender rose bush that I didn’t kill. Happy Mother’s Day. Did I ...

The Almost Empty Nest. Stuck between two stages of life! By Tia Lisa Mallard. As I may have mentioned in previous posts I am not a fan of winter. But I absolutely love. I love that barefoot feeling and the warmth of sunshine. It invokes thoughts of fun and vacations. Wait……did I say resort area? Right here in our own backyard? I’m excited we’re going to be tourists in our own county! Let’s do this! I Want a New Drug. Jun 09, 2011. LMAO @ black socks and sandals! I can’t see Michael doing that…. I am lovi...

The Almost Empty Nest. Stuck between two stages of life! School is Always in Session. By Tia Lisa Mallard. Oh my, it has been a long time since I have written here. I’ve been doing so many things this summer both professionally and personally. The hubs and I continue to take short little trips to our local resorts and are enjoying ourselves immensely! I am convinced that you are never too old to learn and that you should always be on the lookout for something new and exciting to add to your education and...

The Almost Empty Nest. Stuck between two stages of life! I Want a New Drug. By Tia Lisa Mallard. I have not been active for a while due to some medical issues that hopefully will be resolved soon. It was nothing serious but had the potential to become that way. Pain was a daily event so not only could I not begin my running program but could not exercise at all. I couldn’t concentrate on work or enjoy working in my garden. Needless to say, it was very depressing and stressful. Leave a Reply Cancel reply.

Minorbird: December 2011
http://minorbirdstyle.blogspot.com/2011_12_01_archive.html
Monday, December 26, 2011. Now that the holidays are over, and in the spirit of a new year, new beginnings, fresh starts and resolutions, I thought it was time I go public with some of my own stuff. You ready for this? Kind of like having a child for the first time - you are never as ready or prepared as you think. But here it goes. I have spent most of the last two years going through a divorce. Yep, the D word. I don't wish it on anyone. I am sure it has been hard to watch. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).
Minorbird: Canning Your Own Food: Athletic and Dangerous
http://minorbirdstyle.blogspot.com/2012/08/canning-your-own-food-athletic-and.html
Friday, August 17, 2012. Canning Your Own Food: Athletic and Dangerous. Canning food is a long-standing family tradition for the Minors. I can remember Grandmom spending hours prepping peaches, making relish, pickling beets, and freezing lima beans. I grew up with my mom canning food from the backyard garden - string beans, tomato sauce, and homemade applesauce. I even have peach-peeling post traumatic stress disorder from the summer of 1997 or so. Mom decided she wanted A LOT of peaches for the winter.
Minorbird: The Birth of Ella Minor
http://minorbirdstyle.blogspot.com/2013/08/the-birth-of-ella-minor.html
Thursday, August 8, 2013. The Birth of Ella Minor. First of all, this story is gruesome, uses questionable language, and may give you. Visual images that you can't erase. Reader discretion is advised. Also, it's long. It all starts with a double line on a test. A long deep breath. And a text message. Not exactly the cutesy, creative way all the women on Pinterest deliver the news, but whatever. I was on a work trip and had the answer to why my brand new work pants did not fit. Just like on TV. With a var...
Minorbird: July 2011
http://minorbirdstyle.blogspot.com/2011_07_01_archive.html
Thursday, July 28, 2011. The Farm in My Mind. Running a business is crazy. Meant for crazy people. Don't get me wrong - I love it. I have wanted to do this for a very very long time and I am truly blessed to be able to live out my dream. But it's still crazy. Lately, I have become slightly obsessed with the idea of having chickens. Not so much for the chickens, but for organic, colored eggs and THIS:. Thank you Country Living Magazine. For permanently altering the course of my life. My oldest was taking ...
Minorbird: September 2011
http://minorbirdstyle.blogspot.com/2011_09_01_archive.html
Wednesday, September 21, 2011. It has been one day over a month since I last wrote. For a thousand good reasons, I have not had time. But I am ready to update! Let's make a list:. 1 Hurricane = I don't do natural disasters. 2 I don't do natural disasters = weekend escape to visit fantastic old friends in Nashville! 3 While in Nashville, my youngest met his future wife. She's a pistol. Thank god. 4 School started again. Third grade (seriously? Kindergarten, and Mr. Preschool are happily settled in. So I h...

Tuesday, June 28, 2011. Please Pardon the Interruption. It is almost Wednesday and I haven't written the first thing all week. You can blame it all on this. Just trying to make a bunch of pajama pants. Stay tuned for the full story. Hours I tell you. Lots of foul language. Sewing machine - 1. Saturday, June 25, 2011. Enjoy a sweet sale on all beach totes and tunics! We just want to make sure you look good for the holiday. ;). Thursday, June 23, 2011. I go to flea markets for several reasons. 1 I like them.
Minorbird: August 2013

Wednesday, August 28, 2013. The baby went to kindergarten and now what? I have spent most of my life terrified of criticism and judgement. I chose perfectionism as my anxiety controller of choice. I was a straight A honor student. I finished my bachelor's degree in two years. Probably the biggest mistake I ever made, but that's another story. I picked things that were easy to judge as 'good' or 'bad' and dumped anything subjective. Because you can't possibly be right for everyone, every time, in every way.
Minorbird: Resurrection
http://minorbirdstyle.blogspot.com/2013/08/resurrection.html
Monday, August 5, 2013. I had previously decided to kill this blog and use my photography website blog instead. First, that never happened. Mostly because I was pregnant and vomiting and miserable. But also because I couldn't figure out how to get all personal and still be professional. And then, that little person making me vomit arrived four weeks ago. Now that I'm not completely brain drained and obscenely cranky, I'm back to writing. Okay, maybe not the most gruesome ever, but still. Life On The Edges.

Saturday, August 20, 2011. It's so close you smell it. Even my daughter put jeans on this morning. Yep, ready for some of this. Fires, candles, pumpkins. I am totally a detail person. As you all know, I LOVE a great bag and amazing accessories, cool house stuff and unbelievable furniture. But seriously, these matches from Homart are one of my all time favorite little items. I have been stalking this company for several years already. There is just something about the wood and the pretty boxes they come in.

Tuesday, December 30, 2008. A plague of locusts? We've been hit hard by bad weather over the past week here in Detroit, and we didn't even see the worst of it. First, a dumping of heavy snow, then freezing rain, then dense fog as the temperatures rose to record highs, then flooding and high winds that took down power lines. More snow is predicted for tonight. One good thing about all this economic trouble, though: When was the last time you heard somebody talk about being afraid of catching bird flu?

Better Together
Sunday, March 21, 2010. New York Wedding Shower. With great anticipation, Ashley and I prepared on Friday to leave early the next morning for the first “event” that would kick off these last three months until the wedding. We had our first wedding shower in New York Mills, New York with my side of the fam. People trickled in, the food was put out, and we began to feast. Lamb skewers, beef skewers, lasagna, and a host of other options kept us stuffed for the full length of our stay. We were blessed to be ...
