This time I had a clear idea in mind. The world had changed completely, in this age of computers, mobile phones and the worldwide web, information was readily at everyone s fingertips, but there was nothing about the road where I grew up. A lot of books had been written about the war but what was life really like in post war Britain, growing up in the 1950 s? Memories of Belgrave Road by James Marsh. This picture was probably taken around 1900, but it hardly changed in the time between then and when I was born. There were very few cars in those days so we played endlessly in an empty road. Chasing, hiding and skipping games were carried out in complete safety with no traffic to worry about, apart from one or two horse drawn carts which were driven by delivery men bringing coal, bread or vegetables.
