The multicoloured lettering and abundance of information give the impression of a friendly person with a lot to say. I believe the language at the bottom is Tamil. Longtime followers of this blog will know that I have a fascination with revised signs. Here’s one that caught my attention recently. I wonder if attentive smokers still expect to find their vice inside. August 8, 2012. Looks like there’s been a price adjustment here. I love how the yellow type calls so much attention to itself. That sign when they reopen.

If the poodle silhouette were simplified it would become a pictogram, but as it stands it has too much detail to be one. There’s a pleasing contrast here between refined script and forceful image. Overall this is a very effective sign. August 18, 2012. I recently attended the Junction Flea. The next Junction Flea is on September 9.

There’s a wide range of approaches, as any Toronto dog owner will know. This one is my favourite and it happens to be bolted to the building in which I live. It’s the expression on the dog’s face that makes it stand out for me. The dog looks mischievous, as if aware that it’s done something naughty. May 2, 2012.
