Inching into the Good Life: Waiting for Spring
http://inchingintothegoodlife.blogspot.com/2011/02/waiting-for-spring.html
Inching into the Good Life. Experiencing Life inch by inch, slowly to savor every bite. Monday, February 28, 2011. Spring, I can't wait. because then summer is next. I love spring in it's own right. The smell of the snow melting is just as intoxicating as driving down bakery road up in St. Cloud in the morning. (E. St. Germain where the Hearth bakery lives) Spring is all about the scents. It's as if one can actually smell the grass growing and turning green. My husband said nothing but garbled "mmm, num, ...

It's Christmas Time = POTICA Time! Mom tells me the recipe she has followed for over 50 years is Croatian derived. The sweet dough is spread so thin you could read a newspaper through it. The filling consists of walnuts, graham cracker, honey, egg and milk. 5 to 6 cups flour. 3/4 Cup lukewarm water. 3 packets yeast (small).

Inching into the Good Life. Experiencing Life inch by inch, slowly to savor every bite. Thursday, August 25, 2011. Stuffed Mini Eggplant with Zucchini and 3 Cheeses. A friend has asked a couple of times to come up with a vegetarian dish. I actually love non meat food so I was looking forward to finding something really yummy. In addition, another person asked for a squash recipe! The instructions did not tell me HOW to steam the eggplant in the pan, so I just figured the best way would be similar to doin...

Inching into the Good Life: October 2010
http://inchingintothegoodlife.blogspot.com/2010_10_01_archive.html
Inching into the Good Life. Experiencing Life inch by inch, slowly to savor every bite. Sunday, October 31, 2010. Halloween = Carving Pumpkins = Roasted Pumpkin Seeds. Sometimes I wonder why we even bother to do the "seed thing" on Halloween when carving pumpkins. I mean seriously, is this the most tedious, gross, slimy, sticky, gooey task? I do believe I see a chunk o pumpkin that needs to be removed! After the final rinse, unload the seeds onto paper towels or a kitchen towel to dry. Fill a bowl with ...

Inching into the Good Life. Experiencing Life inch by inch, slowly to savor every bite. Sunday, August 29, 2010. TOMATOES, TOMATOES, TOMATOES! Who knew that planting four Cherry Tomato plants would produce so many and how come they decided to finish the season by maturing all at once! I was left with the question of how can I preserve these lil ball of red heaven? I also had a small bucket of Big Boy and Roma tomatoes that produced very little in comparison to the Cherries. So ripe and juicy when cut.

Inching into the Good Life: Galompkis - aka Stuffed Cabbage Rolls
http://inchingintothegoodlife.blogspot.com/2011/12/galompkis-aka-stuffed-cabbage-rolls.html
Inching into the Good Life. Experiencing Life inch by inch, slowly to savor every bite. Thursday, December 8, 2011. Galompkis - aka Stuffed Cabbage Rolls. What is a Galumpki? From where my mother's side of the family comes from, it is what stuffed cabbage is called. There is a whole debate out there amongst my mother's family on not only the spelling of galumpkis, but also what you put inside and on top of them. Put a large pot of water on the stove and bring to boil, this will be for the cabbage. Bring ...

Inching into the Good Life: Baking Bread
http://inchingintothegoodlife.blogspot.com/2011/12/baking-bread.html
Inching into the Good Life. Experiencing Life inch by inch, slowly to savor every bite. Monday, December 5, 2011. I have a major fail in baking that I occasionally attempt. Making bread from scratch. Today a blogger that I follow "Knead to Cook" gave me a link to the perfect loaf of french bread. Using the bread hook to knead the dough :). It's pretty embarrassing. I mean, c'mon. Flour, Water, Yeast, Salt. 4 ingredients. How hard can this be? This is a good sign :). Maybe I should say I formed the loaves...
