Linda Rivero Blog: Where Is the Creative Flow?
http://lindarivero.blogspot.com/2009/08/where-is-creative-flow.html
Thursday, August 20, 2009. Where Is the Creative Flow? You're away on vacation, and you feel yourself start to relax. Your body softens as your muscles let go, gingerly. Your breath sinks a little lower, comes a little slower. And at last, your mind begins.just begins.to run a little less frenetically. And then. a. The seagull.the cloud.the child.they catch our breath! We can't figure it out. Were these things there all along? Why I didn't see them? Who wasn't present. You were absolutely somewhere e...

Linda Rivero Blog: So what is it?

Tuesday, August 18, 2009. So what is it? So what is it? That's the magic of photographing 'artificial fire': you never know what you're going to capture. I shoot and shoot and shoot, working to time the shutter with the peak of the. Explosion and position the camera for the best composition.always playing with the exposure, of course. But it's pretty much a crap shoot; I never know what I'll get. The frustration of shooting fireworks, though, is that.you miss the fireworks! See the show. Can't be done.

Linda Rivero Blog: Soaring over the Sahara
http://lindarivero.blogspot.com/2010/04/soaring-over-sahara.html
Thursday, April 1, 2010. Soaring over the Sahara. Glancing out the window with weary eyes after twelve hours of flight, I was stunned to see something I'd never seen from a plane window: a stunning, infinite expanse of gold, beige, ecru. I gasped. Could it be? In a flash I turned on my 'flight checker' and verified my hope: yes, it is the Sahara below us, it answered me, smiling. I swooned, I am soaring over the Sahara. So rich, and deep, and conducive to, well, musing. And what a pleasure to be in the m...

Linda Rivero Blog: Get Your Hair Wet. And Eat the Cashew Fruit.
http://lindarivero.blogspot.com/2009/08/get-your-hair-wet-eat-cashew-fruit.html
Sunday, August 23, 2009. Get Your Hair Wet. And Eat the Cashew Fruit. As I drifted along in my pool this morning, buoyed by my pink styrofoam tube, I tilted my head back to see the lush treetops around me. Then I strained a little more to see clouds bouncing through the sky. Mmmm, lovely,. I thought. And wistfully I straightened back up. Suddenly my eyes softened, my head cocked to the side, and I thought, What? Why is it such a habit to forget to savor the now, lose what comes next, and just be present?

Linda Rivero Blog: The Pearl of Africa
http://lindarivero.blogspot.com/2010/04/pearl-of-africa.html
Monday, April 5, 2010. The Pearl of Africa. Gazing over vast and stunning Lake Victoria, at last slightly able to grasp where I am, I think of all the ideas and thoughts that I've had no time to record, and I wonder: Where to begin? What a backdrop to the powerful relationships I've discovered and friendships I've begun. Now we are all colleagues, working together toward a common goal: life improvement for Ugandan women and children through self-generated and sustainable activities. Mama Africa. Linda,yo...
