Thursday, July 23, 2015. John-for-Life: Five week update: Part 2. Okay, so I am now well into the 5th week of the body for life program, or what I refer to the John for Life program because I tweak it slightly for me. The first four weeks were not the best, mainly because I had some really bad habits I had to defeat. So now that those first "adjustment" weeks are over, now I'm all in. This meant reading and studying John Hussman's advice. 1 Calculated Base Metabolic Rate (BMR). 2 Don't count calories.

http://hardluckasthma.blogspot.com/2015/08/eat-junk-food-and-still-lose-weight.html
Saturday, August 01, 2015. Eat junk food and still lose weight. Several years ago I was doing the body for life, and had already lost 20 pounds. One of my friends and I were talking about our respective diets, and it somehow came up that I took my kids to McDonald's. My friend said, "So, when you go McDonald's, what do you eat? I said, "When I go to McDonald's, I eat Big Macs and fries.". He said. "How can you eat that junk and still lose weight? Anyway, this evolved into a nice discussion. A diet I like...

Hardluck Asthma: 1800-1985: Asthma Cigarettes
http://hardluckasthma.blogspot.com/2012/01/history-of-back-door-bronchodilators.html
Tuesday, January 17, 2012. So as you probably know by now by hanging out on this blog I had pretty bad asthma as a kid. When I was 18 I walked into my doctor's office and he said, "Look, if you ever decide to smoke cigarettes, just let me know and I'll put you out of your misery myself.". The irony was a few days later I visited the Manistee County Historical Museum. If smoking was supposed to be so bad for asthma,. I thought, why would doctors prescribe smoking cigarettes? And what was in them anyway?

Hardluck Asthma: John-for-Life week 5
http://hardluckasthma.blogspot.com/2015/07/john-for-life-week-5.html
Wednesday, July 22, 2015. My point is that I have some experience here. I am, so to speak, a BFL expert. Six years ago my wife and I had Laney, and five years ago (in August) we had Myles. In the past we just had one kid at a time, and now we had two little ones. The stresses of life tend to cause weight gain. So here I am, five years after Myles was born, in the worse shape of my life. Enough! I still remember how good the benefits of success felt. Better able to handle stress. You never know what eupho...
